To be honest, talking last night about soups, we were in agreement that basically experimenting by throwing loads of stuff in together is the way to go - hopefully we'll stumble on all sorts of delish accidents.

Need to get some barley or something as a thickening agent - personally I'm a fan of thicker soups.

Just less stock makes a veg soUp into a thick ''potage'' once liquidised, and potato works too. IMHO barley is too delicioUs to blend until yoU've had it in a brothy soUp on day one and maybe day two.

I like thick soUps too. In my circle of friends I am particularly well known for a very good pUmpkin soUp. :o:D I love VERY minty pea sop too. I once toiled for ages tasting and adding to add that ''je ne sais quoi'' to a tomato soup only to realise at the end I'd essentially made ''heinz tomato soup'' but at least it was fresh:o. Mhy remaining cheat sops are still the occasional tin of tomato soup and tinned consomme (which I have as is or turn into french onion for dh for a lazy meal). Otherwise can't stand taste of tinned. I also drink marigold stock as a ''cuppa soup''.

I'm hoping to perfect for myself hot and sour soUp this winter.

My mum adds flour to the stock to make it thicker.

Back from picking up eldest son's AS results, think the less said the better......
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

NDG, foaly pic has made me feel VERY broody. The mare looks content. :)

I'm no expert, but surely that foal is a bit big to be newly-born? Comparing to the size of the mother?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

As the song ended, everyone stayed standing, then another song kicked in (a spaceman came a travelling). No-one really knew what to do.

The Chris De Burgh song, what's wrong with that?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA9wp27ltGg This one?

I'm not sure I'd choose it for a funeral, but it doesn't seem wildly offensive. Doesn't seem to last 20 minutes, though. I'm clearly missing something important here, so can someone help me out, please?

You'll have to check with Ndg exact age...its dry and the dam looks content but not surprised or exhasted....but no, not too big at all! they are born reasonably big...legs are about 90% of adult leg length when born (bodies far less, obviously). They are wobbly for a bit but get up and able to totter about ideally pretty quickly, and then able to trot and canter within a few hours...galloping after a first day out. They have to be sizey and developed to run so soon after birth, and they have to be able to run so that wolves, lions, or cave men don't eat them.

adit: from memory Special girl (about 177/178 cms...can't remember exactly) her filly was 137 cms....very big. She ended up taller but finer/lighter than her very tall mother!

Resitting papers in January is always an option.

Chop the veg, add stock it does it for you. Also works as a blender & smoothie maker.
I now need to start collecting soup recipes....:)

Whats wrong with a stick blender?

I use a stick blender too, but I miss a really blender which I think does a better job. Minimising washing up is a good thing but for me cooking needs a wooden spoon and my involvment :o thats the fun bit.

Did they just remove the fibroids in the end?

Yep, that is his intention. He is not the sort to just give up but it was quite disappointing. Hopefully though, it will give him the kick up the bum he needed after losing his way half way through the year.

Stuff, stuff, stuff.... so now some stuff it.

Lost my way, trying to do everything/too much ... and so not now trying to do stuff I thought I had to do.

I'm still clock watching and hour counting.... two days ago I was there and about to witness the last breath. So much has happened between there and here.

Poundland came up trumps with some notelets/envelopes this morning, so I have to write a note to a couple of people/places, but not doing any "sorting of old's stuff", which I thought was part of what I was supposed to be doing. Just going to do phone arounds and notes today really. Might go part with a big wedge at the funeral place later today too - and tell them I've had a rethink about a couple of things. Distant sibling is taking charge of flower choosing and says we should have an order of service, so they'll be choosing and contacting the funeral place direct.... rather than what everybody's been doing so far which is to tell me things need to be done ... and not actually taking the jobs from me to do them.
