Try amazon/ play.com/ youtube for censored versions.

Ah yes, that works. Thanks. It's shorter too, but I suppose most people would think that an advantage! :)

When my Generalissima was being baptised I just kinda mentioned to the vicar* that Jerusalem would be a nice thing to sing on the day what with England having won the 6 Nations match against the previous season's champions Wales in pretty decisive fashion a couple of weeks earlier (Eng 47 - Wal 13) and how my daughter was going to be raised in the Church of England and so on.

We had it as a hymn at our wedding, what with the church being full of hulking great blokes with cauliflowered ears. The organist clearly knew the rugby thing as well, and had agreed to play some fillers if our friend's pre-arranged performance didn't fill the signing of the register.

There is a really odd picture of me and H during the signing of the register with us looking at each other. Him confused, me with my mouth open in shock. I kept wondering why on earth we'd be looking at each other like that at that precise point in our lives(!) but then I remembered that the organist was dreadful and we'd been trying to work out what it was he was playing.

The photographer had caught the moment I'd fathomed that it was *supposed* to be Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Would have been sweet, and funny, if the organist had possessed the skill to actually play the organ :o

The Chris De Burgh song, what's wrong with that?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA9wp27ltGg This one?

I'm not sure I'd choose it for a funeral, but it doesn't seem wildly offensive. Doesn't seem to last 20 minutes, though. I'm clearly missing something important here, so can someone help me out, please?

Correct song. Thing was, everyone was confused as they expected song whilst coffin brought in, then music stops & service starts. Everyone was thrown by the continuing music, not the tune!

    I didn't make it up. It's true.

I was at a funeral where the minister didn't know the deceased and waffled of great matriachs of families etc. I asked why the family hadn't asked someone who knew her to speak. Apparently no-one who knew her could find anything good to say.

The more worrying thing is that people get buried to music from wizard of oz. :)
Can't say any of the songs in that are on my burial list.

It could of been worse, they end up playing a bit of Arthur Brown at the crem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOErZuzZpS8

  • NDG, foaly pic has made me feel VERY broody. The mare looks content. :)

Lottie's really calm and contented - normally, she's manic, but at the moment, new motherhood is relaxing her.

She's not at all aggressive or worried by people coming to see her and Junior either, so long as she knows them.
