Pastures, don't worry about well old missing the last visit. From experience you will get at least 24 hours notice and we got a very acurate 60 hour warning.
Regarding the well old's mobility, might it be an idea to throw money at the problem and get one of these delivered?
Amazon might also be your answer for the microwave.
I really admire the way you are coping with all this and hope that you can take comfort in a job well done when the time comes.Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -
dog dog and I slept for hours. very lazy:o.
Also, I've been thinking about the riots. I'd like to think I wouldn't have stolen anything in that position. If I were there. But I can't say 100% I wouldn't, or at least I wouldn't sort of want to. I wouldn't go to people rampaging through the streets, I wouldn't like the poverty of ambition or the morality of someone who can steal like that, and I'm not a tv person, but if I were walking home and the wondows were smashed in, everything but one or two nice little tvs left.....I'm trying to imagine whether or not I could go in and get one. I just don't know. I know I want the answer to be no, but perhaps the slight resentment of others who have got something for nothing suggests I might not be as good as I want to be.0 -

I am quite sure that the person I am now wouldn't take anything from a shop whether its windows were smashed in or not. But what about the person I would have been if I'd been born without the family and education and upbringing and faith that I've received through no merit of my own? How can I possibly say?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I was thinking the same thing when it was happening and I was in Devon missing all the 'excitement'. Don't think I would take anything from a shop as I have too much to lose but I must admit to thinking I bet there will be some good deals turning up on ebay in the next few weeks...
Then again our lawn mower (a little hover purchased when we had a small handkerchief of lawn) finally died after a year and a half of our 100 foot plus garden so I got a replacement for a tenner off ebay and cut the grass once before the belt snapped - I don't think it was that impressed by the long wet grass (nor the tennis balls) and possibly was also brittle from not being used for a while.

michaels, Tring auction often has gardening bargains once the summer is over, its worth checking out the catalogue for auctions in Autumn. My brother bought all his gardening tools last year and they had a good petrol lawnmower too. Can't remember how much now but it was a few quid, not much at all. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thanks for the gardening thoughts Viva - we are just trying to keep things vaguely under control this year with all the building work going on - may be next year we will be a bit more adventurous. A new belt was a fiver on Amazon so I have ordered that for the time being. Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy brand (Sandtex or Weathershield) masonry paint?
Another thought on the looting - when it was all kicking off in London I posted a spoof 'freebie' hotukdeal suggesting that free TVs, sports good etc were available form Currys and JD sports store throughout London - seemed a bit of light-hearted fun to me but I wonder if I could have been charged with inciting looting...I think....0 -

I'll be watching out for you on the Crimewatch special:eek:.
Re paint. Unless you hit one of the periodical sales at the big sheds, your tradies should be able to get it for you at a discount. My brother and dad, who are totally a*al when it comes to paint, say that you should get the trade Weathershield rather than standard as it lasts longer and needs doing less often. With that in mind you can generally only get pure brilliant white trade at the retail sheds anyway. Trade paint should last 2 years longer. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I would hope that either you (or me or anyone) would inherently know right from wrong or that a minimal amount of any one of those 4 factors would have had some influence on you.
and if society, family, faith etc have totally failed someone and they have grown up in a total wilderness then the only way to now learn that some behaviour is unacceptable is for the looters to face the consequence of their actions; for themselves to learn, as well as for others who may be tempted to be reminded that actions have repercussions.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thank you. I was just contemplating buying some masonary paint to patch the fence pain and making a start out the back of the ag barns. I won't now!0 -

Oh yes. The idea that imposing consequences for actions is necessary for people to learn is much more certain than the unknowable "what ifs" that we've been considering.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
