I think I'm good. I remember when, as a teenager, the fag machine outside the town's cafe broke and the packets spilled out on the pavement. My mates helped themselves to one or two packs, not the whole lot. Meanwhile, I walked inside to tell the owner, but I did it slowly, because I knew he was filthy rich! :rotfl:

Here, there's no need to steal TVs. I picked up a nice little Sony portable in the recycling shop, guaranteed for 3 months, for a fiver! Shortly after, down at the dump, I had a choice of two for my daughter to take to uni, courtesy of a hotelier who thought she'd have to go flat screen.

We don't know hardship in this country, unless we're talking about emotional bankruptcy. ;)

Another brilliant post. I really miss your posts when you are "busy". Stop being so selfish & post more here purely for my amusement!:p

I agree Dave. For me the acid test is this: you find a wallet with no ID in it but a wad of cash. Do you a) hand it in to the police; or b) keep it. If you answer a without thinking you are unlikely to worry about looting a TV, if you're tempted by b or say it outright on the other hand....

I have to say in all honesty that the temptation would be there for b. Thing is, it can be quite easy to self-justify (ie - well there are no contact details so we'll never trace who's wallet it is). I also think that personal circs may well come into play. In example, imagine the person finding the wallet sans ID is PN, today, with a wad of cash in, and a microwave shop across the road.

so, missing a wedding this weekend. bride and groom not going on honeymoon and i'd like to get them something. flowers? chocolates? anything less trite?

i'd get it delivered to them to arrive next week after their feet have touched the earth after the excitement.

Not going on honeymoon? Champange and fondu set with necessary ingrediants. :)

If you go chocolate, personally I really like Hotel Chocolate. In fact, its one of the few brands of chocolate I do like now!

    Otherwise...just champagne. Its always welcome.

It's quite early yet for peppers, though they ought to be forming by now. Are yours outdoors? My outdoor ones are not doing much, but they have fruit on them. They're only being grown outdoors because I hope to sell them, so I don't want them to get too large/need a re-pot. Tight, I am! :D

We're just starting to eat some red peppers, but only the F1 Redskin type, which are weird things; all short & stubby, with peppers much too big for the overall plant size. They aren't especially thick walled either. They're being grown under plastic.

It will be better when the normal ones start to turn red. We have an Italian one called 'Marconi,' which is productive and easy. If you've a frost free conservatory/big window, you can keep peppers going almost until Christmas. :)

Gotta be honest I don't know what mine are!:o Bought a pack of 5 seeds in march/april. Planted them late april. They are abount a 18" plus tall. The plants seem healthy, & it appears that flower buds are forming at the top of the plant. However 've not seen them open yet.

I didn't plant them until late april, & assumed it might be a bit late.

What kinda timescale should I be looking at? I thought it might be a bit late to get anything from them this year.

I've ponly got one pepper fruiting. Like the toms, it same as the others, just wildly advanced in comparison. Still got lots of green fruit on the marmondes but nothing ripe....maybe optimisitic for an outdoor crop. The generic and not tasty cherry toms in a basket are ok. Enough for the two of us to eat anyway.

I really hope Lydia meant it about not being the sort of person people clean up for and wanting to feel better about her house. :) I can't bend over today, so anything below knee leve might as well be another country, and its not getting cleaned, :)

Are you too far north? Peppers are from South/Central America I think. Perhaps they just don't feel the sun-love in the midlands.

I'm pretty confident out door peppers would have thrived here last year. This summer its not been terribly hot or sunny nor particularly wet and it has been windy and its been tough for everything really. Even my cabbages look miserable and moping.

For me, it has always been answer A - hand it into the police.

In fact, I have done just that, twice. Each time it has been claimed by pensioners on a day trip down here who have been ever so thankful that decency and honesty is still around. The first time I was a teenager, the second a fully grown adult.

I have also found purses with ID in and have called the person to arrange a pick up/ to post it...again, each time it has been pensioners.

Pensioners like our seaside but by goodness, they also seem to like leaving their purses/wallets in phone boxes and seaside benches :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • I've found, at different times, 4 purses / wallets, and a laptop. I've handed some in (where I don't know whose it is) and where there was something obvious in the wallet, phoned the person. I'd hope someone would do that.

We have already picked two and have around another 10+ growing over 3 plants.

It must be Younow peppers. He is trying to get yellow and black hybrids. :)

I'd have thought the big beaming grin I have post saturday would have helped.

TBH I just put seed thingys in mud & hope. Thought it was worth a try. Even if I just get 1...
