No, I just left it with a bit of the corner missing, phoned the dentist who arranged for me to come in today (!) to fix it. Started to tingle a bit over the last couple of days, so I hope it settles down.
Ouch! I've never had a filling, but it doesn't sound much fun.
I did have 4 adult teeth pulled out for braces, and didn't rate that as an experience....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I have extremely distraught friend on the phone. She works sundays in a riding school giving quality riding lessons...i.e. proper riding not ..kick means go, pull the reins for stopping, but rather proper riding with correct aids, but to kids. A mother has complained because ''pelvic floor'' was brought into a begginers' class today. Friend swears nothing inappropriate was said, and she referred to the muscles you use when ''stopping a wee''. Would the parents here deem this inappropriate adult content? (kids are between four and 8, but tbh, it wouldn't matter to me the age, they hve to learn this) Its a vitally important thing when riding correctly, and its a fairly important thing to learn to practise early!0

Sounds like an idiot parent. They exist. They are idiots.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Talking to her more the parent is also ''a rider'' nd also took offence that daughter was not taught to pull on the reins ''which she knows to do'' and might also have inadvertantly been slighted by friend saying ''when people say pull on the reins and not this consider whether its the best thing to do at the time, look for the things the pony does to say it doesn't like something, e.g. does their pony raise its head''.
Inadvertantly friend has introduced kids to adult pleasures and told them their mum can;'t ride and is mean to her horse. But of course, the thing her employers and she are frantic about is the ''adult content'' of the lesson....word of mouth is vital for riding schools.

I think she is overreacting. The reality is, any business is going to have occasional unsatisfied clients. If she can, unruffle the parents feathers by praising how bright and dedicated the child is, and how well they are teaching her outside of class etc, at the next available opportunity. But if left alone it will die down.
I think the parent is an idiot, but to be honest, things going wrong is just a staple of life.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Did you go up a hill (800m) and come down a mountain? The mountain was only 1490m altitude
I wonder what the cricket instructor says to said lady's son when it is time for him to wear his box for cricket lessons?lostinrates wrote: »I have extremely distraught friend on the phone. Unfortunately, yes. I once had a parent complain because I told her 11 year old son to stop 'behaving like a silly prat' in the playground. It was a lighthearted comment, chosen because the situation wasn't terribly serious.
"We don't use those sort of words in our family!" was her observation.
Now where I come from, the word 'prat' is slang for a fool and derives from the pratfalls of the music hall and silent film era. I was unaware of the other meaning of the word i.e. the buttocks, or the part of the anatomy fallen upon. I suppose that's where silly a s s (ar5e) comes from too.
Anyway, we talked it through, but the parent still thought I was being rude, so in the end we had to agree to disagree.
It's a good job I didn't have that child in my class for sex education!:rotfl:0 -
Messages from the kids today, " exactly what can go in the recycling bin?" & "remind me how to set the dishwasher".
Get home to find half the driveway dug up. One kid claims not to have noticed it, the other said that the gas people needed to come in and play with the boiler and did mutter something about digging a hole, but he thought they were talking about the pavement. They are replacing the gas main in the street and there are holes all along the pavement, but no-one else has a hole on their driveway, so I don't know what that is about, but can't believe the kids didn't take more of an interest.
sounds like they coped just fine and also didn't have an all nighter with half the neighbourhoood showing upMy cousins did that years ago and it turned into a bit of a riot with Police etc. My uncle had spent a decade building a matchstick boat and it got broken:( plus fag burns in carpets and so on.

Also discovered there are no long-term hospices in the county; it seems there's a short-term one, for assessment, but if you need an actual last days place, the only choice is a nursing home.... old currently in the short-term one, but not looking good ... and once assessed will then need to either slide off in a stupour, be shipped home to slip off, or shipped to a home to slip off.
Everything's gone: mental state, physical state... and the C's spread fast so the old struggles to breath at all, or speak.... can't move really either. Visiting daily but it's a 40 mile round trip of course
Sad to read above too........did the sibling cope OK and will he/she be coming back to help again?
It's a massive job for you to do solo now.
Coming home for the end, in theory, would be nice but it would depend on the physical care required and if you and frail old can cope with it. If you can't then pls be brutally honest with the hospital.
I don't want to be morbid but a question you could ask to give you info is 'Is he eating or drinking anything at all?'' If no and no intravenous feeding going on then I know they can work out the time scale based on body weight. This is what the nurses did for my grandmother at the very end.
We found it very helpful in her situation. Could you ask someone that question?
Thinking of you though......He really meant flying low but didn't want you to get the wrong end of the stick :rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously though, i really like reading your daily toils, highs and lows (insecurity's) which you put over so well and i can relate to it all.
Unfortunately there will always be nasty people around and all you can do is push the nastiness to the back of your mind and think of the "nice" people's comments. At least you know what's what now.
I like it here you know.....don't know why but I really do. There's a connection that I can't put my finger on.....we must all share a similar personality trait of some sort as don't 'they' say ''like attracts like''? Or maybe, if we write stuff and someone thinks that's a crock of s***, they just click away from the thread and don't come back so the cluster is just those who like what's posted here?
LIR.....there may not have ever been a trigger, probably nothing that you ever did...it was just one of those random things that bodies fall for. As long as you get enough good quality fuel inside you then I guess cals don't even matter.
Today was Hard Work....no type again...today was HARD WORK.
Very few new customers and lots of complaints from other stands that it was far quieter this August (as compared to Feb) and a total lack of euro customers this time (but that's also due mainly to season as shops in Spain, Malta, France, Italy are often resort based so close up during the winter).
We are happy as existing customers who ordered in Feb and have continued to do so throughout the season loved the new styles and ordered heavily....so we live to fight another day.:)
US trade don't come over to London so that part of the business I can't judge. My old dad did say that not to worry about the US situation too much as it's the govt that's 'bust' whereas many US businesses are still strong financially. The trickle down is a problem but a company like Google won't be massively affected just yet.
We have noted a very scary thing though as to where our bestest highest spending independent customers are based.
Here's the list;
Ireland,
Iceland
Cyrpus (Greece)
Spain
USA
The common thread is they are all countries on the financial edge (or already bust like Iceland).
It's a scary thing bucking the trend as I have asked these customers about their countries situations but it doesn't seem to have affected 'fun' non- essential spend.0
