Talking about London, just wanted to say that I hope that none of the nice people are stuck in Tottenham at the moment. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Back from hols.
Very relaxing and enjoyable. Perfect weather (hot but no too hot) most of the time, hampered by a day of storms when we got caught in the downpour. Healthy walks, ferrys and even a mountain climb (well chair lift rather than hiking boots)
To those of little faith, the nails lasted perfectly - still look as good as new. Sadly the filling that I had done 3 days before leaving only lasted til day 1 of the holidayI'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Messages from the kids today, " exactly what can go in the recycling bin?" & "remind me how to set the dishwasher".
Get home to find half the driveway dug up. One kid claims not to have noticed it, the other said that the gas people needed to come in and play with the boiler and did mutter something about digging a hole, but he thought they were talking about the pavement. They are replacing the gas main in the street and there are holes all along the pavement, but no-one else has a hole on their driveway, so I don't know what that is about, but can't believe the kids didn't take more of an interest.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I would have taken the Old Kent Road and then along the Embankment. Catford and Peckam are more ethnic, vedgy and more fun that Brompton Road - and surely better for inspiration?
Glad the hols were good - I think there may be some issue with teeth and altitude (you mention a mountain), only one of my teeth that have ever broken was at 3500m and I think was either the altitude or possibly the -30 degree temperatures, or both combined.I think....0 -
Brief update because I'm tired and can't reply to everything:
Holiday = looking after ones own children in a less convenient location with fewer of thier own stuff to keep them occupied. We are staying at home this summer, although seem to be incredibly booked up with stuff to do and people to see and friends' children to look after. Am not getting anything done towards sorting out my house.
Panels now ordered, costing just shy of £13k. Should be fitted in Sept. (Have I said that already? If so, forgive the repetition.)
Sympathies to any nice people who've been stuck in traffic. I spent some time travelling very slowly on the M5 today - firstly between Thornbury and the M4, and then over the Avonmouth bridge. I missed out the bit in between by going out to Aust and down the M49. I felt pretty stupid for arriving late at my destination. It's only 7 years ago that I used to live in N Somerset. How could I forget that the M5 from Bristol to Burnham is always a car park every Saturday in school holidays? Why did I not remember I would need to leave a lot more time? Fortunately the friends I went to see were understanding.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
LIR, how little do you eat....especially with all that physical work you do....and NDG though you aren't feeling well so guess that's why.
I'm normally a pig (lunch time and later, I don't do breakfast) but having a temp puts me off eating altogether.
I put weight on easily if I'm not careful, which is one of the reasons I play netball twice a week. I enjoy it a lot, too, though!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Did you have ti find an emergency dentist?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
All traumatic stuff here, I returned to the old being no longer resident; kind of expecting that middle of the night call "come now ...." so things are in the air. 2 hours? 2 days? 2 weeks? can't tell.
Also discovered there are no long-term hospices in the county; it seems there's a short-term one, for assessment, but if you need an actual last days place, the only choice is a nursing home.... old currently in the short-term one, but not looking good ... and once assessed will then need to either slide off in a stupour, be shipped home to slip off, or shipped to a home to slip off.
Everything's gone: mental state, physical state... and the C's spread fast so the old struggles to breath at all, or speak.... can't move really either. Visiting daily but it's a 40 mile round trip of course0 -
Sorry to hear that PN. Even though expected, it's never a nice thing to go through.
Hope things go as well as they can.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
