Wow that is a long time will he have to serve all it? Is he going to be local guess you could take DS to visit but not sure I would personally want to do that. Guess they can talk on the phone guess DH might tell you how much contact he wants then again he is not that old. Feel very sorry for you and sorry I cannot offer any advice other than to say at least you have got this far mainly on your own (I mean finacially) so I am sure you will be fine to carry on.

  • Oh BB, what a nightmare for you.

The only advice i have is to try and be honest. Kids are smart and it is better to hear things from the horses mouth rather than letting DS's imagination run wild. Let him know it is not his fault, that his dad made a mistake. Can he write to him/phonecalls etc? So at least DS knows there is some contact in the future.

Just remember you are a fab mum and that you will be a rock for him even when it feels like the complete opposite.

(((hugs))) not an easy time for you, hope DS takes things ok. You are a strong lady so don't worry too much - you'll be fine, just another unnecessary stress though.

Thank you all ... so finally its over ... the judge clearly wasn't interested in his character references and so its 2.5 yrs, of which he will serve half, so 15 months, so he'll be out just before next Xmas.

His solicitor called me to tell me the sentence and then this afternoon the policeman from the case called me to tell me too, he was actually really lovely, said if theres anything else they can help me with to give him a call ;):)

I have called ds school, I'm hopefully going to see them tomorrow before he goes back on wednesday. I haven't told ds yet, I will probably wait until the weekend and tell him friday night so he has the weekend to get used to it. At least that way he gets the first couple of days at school unaffected :o How do you tell them though that they cant see daddy for a year?? :( He is an absolute muppet, he truly is, and he deserves every day of his sentence, but ds doesn't deserve to suffer because of it too :(

Luckily ds is at my mums for a sleepover tonight, so I can call various people and google stuff without ds hearing/seeing. I will also be reading that book from the library to go through that with ds too.

Hmm .... school was fine today, not that I concentrated on much of it.

At least we have our holiday next year to look forward to :)

  • Sending you hugs, really don't know what to say.

Think your doing the right thing telling him Friday night, will give you a chance to talk to school and your Ds a couple of days to take it in,ask you questions etc.

Hugs from me too Bb - and positive vibes that you find the right way to tell your ds.
