I'm so glad you are having a lovely time with your friend (minus the OH incident), it's brilliant that you are doing things for yourself.

Sounds like you are having a fab time with your friend and DDs. Enjoy your weekend.
I take it you haven't said anything to DDs yet? Obviously that would be rather awkward with your friend there - although she sounds absolutely the right person to have around you right now, an absolute blessing. Just the right person at just the right time. Is OH still going to be moving out, or are you still both working on a promise?"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Lovely to hear that you have an oasis of a good time amidst everything. Your friend is obviously a keeper. Yes you have probably been hiding things well from lots of people 'tis amazing how you are able to do that isn't it.
Loving the sound of the necklace and beads........ could you make them to sell at the market alongside the jams? Might be a way of DDs feeling involved and earning some pocket money perhaps. You could have lovely girlie time making them and then girlie days out selling them.
As for the incident.......... well keep up that strength of character and he will start to really understand why everything is going ***s up for him and might start trying to do something for himself. (never expect him to do it for you because then it will never last he has to do it for himself)
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
glad you have been able to have some fun. The event with OH would be funny if it wasn't SO sad. He has no insight at the moment. Please don't keep him around any longer than is absolutely necessary....
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Am having a mid-life crisis. There is no other rational explaination why two 30 somethings would be spending a Saturdsay afternoon sitting att he PC watching the timer countdown closer to zero in order to place a very last minute bid on E-bay and then be seriously gutted when they were outbid on a book of knitted tea cosy patterns. Seriously what is that all about? Anyhoo having got over the trauma of being outbid I've decided to make this followed by this which means a trip to Hobbycraft is in order, obviously the local market would be cheaper but its not open on a Sunday nor is the village wool shop come everything else shop. The mere fact I haven't knitted anything in an extremely long time is largely irrelevant.
Spent the remainder of yesterday making beetroot and butternut squash burgers which were accompanied with a fry up of anything and everything found lurking in the fridge. Used the remaining beetroot to make muffins which went into the oven a rather garish purple and came out brown. DD2 wasn't at all happy and demanded to know what we'd done with the beetroot buns.
Went on to make orange and lemon marmalade and red onion chutney whilst friend sat in the kitchen crocheting and the DDs made more bracelets and played games. Allowed them to stay up late to watch a Harry Potter DVD as agreed since DD2 had finished reading the book. Finally got them into bed at 10:30 and collapsed in a heap not long after them. Am thinking todays early morning hike to the village carboot sale is unlikely to occur.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Oh Moo - count me in with the owl tea cosy although I can't knit and we don't have a tea pot. :rotfl:
Glad to see you are having fun with your friend - it's nice to see the happiness coming through in your posts.
I also just wanted to say that if you decide to continue living with OH then I will think the same of you as I have always done - I know we are all encouraging you or him to leave but this is only because we have your best interests at heart.
As you know I have personal experience of trying to walk away from a destructive relationship.

That is one serious mid-life crisis, Moo. Serious.
I've just started knitting again (that is, I've bought needles and knitting materials - I am working up to casting on some stitches). When I used to knit I just did squares in different patterns and then put them in a box (and they say I'm unadventurous). Now I've decided to put my lack of imagination and complete inability to see a finished product in my mind's eye to some use and knit dishcloths. There are a surprisingly large number of patterns on the internet.
Re the "other stuff", I (as I am sure everyone else is) am with eager_elephant, and of course you have my support whatever decision you make re the situation. I just don't want to see you suffering. I once tried asking an OH to leave my house (my house, note) and he just looked me in the eye and said "No one tells me to leave, I'll go when I want to" and he stayed another year. Of course, I hadn't thought of the ruse of knitting bizarre tea-cosies - he probably would have left within five minutes of seeing the pattern."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
