Had an offer yesterday. Fourth offer in 11 months.:o
Offer 1 was in February, but just before exchange the bloke decided we'd all (us, EA and solicitor) been lying to him about something, so he pulled out. Needless to say, none of us had lied, and the EA and solicitor have blacklisted him.
Offer 2 was in about May, but the couple's daughter said the house was too near a pub......quarter of a mile.(!)
Offer 3.....our purchaser's purchaser was diagnosed with a serious illness so they had to pull out.
Offer 4 was yesterday. Couple love the house. Their own house is sold and they are cash buyers, apparently. Am waiting to see what goes wrong this time.
Too much has gone wrong in the past, so I refuse to get my hopes up. Until contracts have been exchanged I will remain resolutely pessimistic.:o
Good luck to all in this boat and congratulations to those who have succeeded in this difficult market.:T:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
I'm a second time buyer and first time seller. Our house is going on the market in the next couple of days. EA came to take the pics today, he was only here 10 mins so we'll see what the pics come out like!
Really nervous about selling. We bought the house May 2009 so only been in 2 years and 4 months. We weren't planning on moving so quickly (had hoped to stay 5 years) but we are relocating for work.
Our EA has advised us to put it on at £12k more than we paid for it, with a hope of getting £7k more than we paid. We've done the house up quite a bit and cosmetically it looks lovely but we haven't got round to the big things like replacing the kitchen.
I am a realist and I think we will be extremely lucky to get more than we paid however we need as much money as possible to put into the next house. Similar houses up for sale vary wildly in price £120k - £140k. We've gone higher end £135k but I think we'll end up dropping it quite quickly. 1 sold down the street for £129k in 08.
Anyway...here goes nothing will post an update when we see what the interest is.0 -
It seems pretty clear that to sell the house we need to put it up for sale at a bargain price
After all this time the penny has finally dropped with a resounding clang.- but if it comes to that, we'd rather stay here ourselves,
And yet still unwilling to accept and go forward.0 -

No, I've accepted and gone forward - by deciding to stay where we are. And your problem with that is what exactly?0 -
Oh, no problem. No problem at all.
You're probably doing the right thing. After all house prices are bound to go back to normal next year, aren't they?0 -

Well, I'm not really bothered whether they go up or down to be honest, because we'll be buying and selling in the same market. Since you are so interested, the main reason for waiting a while is because they are developing the field behind us, and once that's over and done with, I think that will make the house easier to sell. And we've already accepted two offers on the house which fell through because the buyers circumstances changed, so hopefully in a few years time things will be a bit more stable, at least. So thank you for your concern, but I'm comfortable that we're making the right decision for us.0 -

No, I don't think you are ready to accept and move forward at all, if you still feel the need to troll on threads like this.
Yes, it's hard that some people have now been waiting since 2002 for the amazing Crash that would propel them into home ownership, but it didn't quite happen, did it?
Now, we're simply bumping along, and the anger of those who feel they missed out is palpable, but I understand that. Houses are overpriced and renting is often a miserable experience, but that's not the fault of anyone here.
Misplacing your anger is about as effective as misplacing your confidence in a Crash that would be so catastrophic, it would make property cheap, while at the same time leaving you and your loved ones miraculously unscathed.
[STRIKE]Get over it.[/STRIKE] I hope you have a nice time here.0 -
Have just exchanged :j After the chain fell through our buyers went back to the mortgage company and got a larger mortgage. We seemed to have had every hold up possible. Luckily we're buying off plan and the developers are providing us with a place to live until the house is completed so only had one side of the chain to worry about. This is our 6th house move and by far the worst but fingers crossed all will go smoothly from now on.
Thanks for everyones support when our chain broke last month.0 -
A week before exchange our THIRD buyer has pulled out, citing personal reasons. Honestly, this whole thing has been farcical. All sixteen bloody months of it.0

That is just rubbish for you, I'm so sorry! I had a look back and saw your post where you'd listed the story so far. It is so frustrating, and I hope you haven't lost too much money over it all. It seems like the housing market just isn't working properly at all at the moment.0
