    Hello rubyjam and welcome.
    Yes I'm still awake :)
You're in the right place - there's loads of lovely people on here for help and support.
The cake shop sounds like a fab idea. And the course is the first step to that. Sounds like your own business would be a good idea for you.
I've found a spending diary really helpful and keep mine on my diary on here.
Get over to the OS board, it's been invaluable for me.
Good luck with your debt free journey, I'll be subscribing xx

Don't worry when you get to 80 you get an extra 25p a week on your state pension (really, you do) so that should sort it :rotfl:

    hello,
having a cake shop sounds like a wonderful goal. I love making cakes, and eating them, but have to try and curb myself as i'm on perpetual diets.
So what debts will we be clearing along with you? Hope you don't mind me asking. Mine were HUGE when i first joined here but the end is in sight now (well it should be less than 12 months anyway).

Rubyjam if you can make do without your credit cards then write and reject the rate rise. You have 60 days from the notice to reject. Going from 4.9 to 23% is a massive leap.

I wrote a rate-rise rejection letter last night, then realized that as I only on £2.43 it really isn't worth the cost of a stamp.

Don't forget, you can sell your DD's clothes as he youngest out-grows them. Some people on here have got more back than they paid in the first place (reminds me, I have a pair of 'Hugo Boss' trousers to list as they did not fit).

I think your lack of confidence might be easier to do something about than you think. Have you tried one of those 'Building self esteem' courses available through your local Mental Health team ?. I went on one of these and it was extremely helpful.

I've just subscribed to your thread.
