I think OH was OK last night, he got back at half 3 anyway which is a lot better. I was up half the night with a certain young lady, I just got her back to sleep before he came in and then she woke up again arghh! Can't really complain though.

He is working this weekend now and meant to be his weekend off and we were going down to Southampton. I might still go though as I had made plans with friends.

I saw the waterstones quote, made me giggle!

Well done on the gym Birdie!

Nice to see people fighting back! :)

Sounds like you had a bit of a rough night Wendz, hope Poppy's well behaved today so you can have a cheeky nap! Glad to hear your OH is OK and didn't have such a long night. Shame about the weekend though :(

So sorry to hear about your OH CMD, glad he's okay. Poor chap, what are the chances?

Very happy your OH came home safe and sound Wendz, it seems like it was a lot 'calmer' there last night? Focus news wise seems to be on Birmingham due to the deaths, hope if any of the lurkers on here are that way on they're okay. It's just getting worse, I love seeing all the photos of the clean ups - and that one going around of that couple making tea for the Police! Warms my heart a little :)

There's this link floating around Twitter. What a tool! I love that not only are people stupid enough to go rioting or looting - but that they're also stupid enough to gloat about it openly on facebook or twitter where they can have their IP address traced, or just found by their page details.

Thankfully there's nothing this way on. There were rumours flying around of fires in Sheffield, but the Police made a couple statements saying they had helicopters flying about and nothing was happening. 6 fires in Doncaster but they said they weren't riot related - I still hope no one got hurt in them.

Great going on the gym membership, Birdie. I had an email last night to say my Zumba set has been sent out, hope it's here within a couple days.

I really feel for the police, they can't do right for doing wrong. They're not allowed to go in all guns (well water canons and rubber bullet guns) blazing in case they hurt someone (even rubber bullets could kill if they hit someone too hard/in the wrong spot) but if they stand back they get done for not doing enough! If I was in charge I'd send the army in with loaded guns, if the mob wants to act like feral animals they can be treated like them too and be put down. Now there's a grumpy morning rant for you!

Here here!! Couldnt agree more, its a good job i'm not leader of this country because I would of authorised the army to go in days ago and use real bullets - see if they still think they're big men then. God i'm a horrible person :o:rotfl:

Nice to see that people are trying to protect their areas, however was really sad to see on the news that 3 men in Birmingham were killed by rioters last night trying to protect their estate. I mean what kind of place do we live in really :(

In better news, good going with the gym membership Birdie - you managed to get yourself a bargain there!
I was thinking once i've had the baby and trying to lose the weight I may try out Zumba (anyone ever done it?), theres a school close by that does classes there every Tuesday evening.

I saw that link last night Cinny, I was gobsmacked! These people are genuine idiots, would love to know what was going on in their heads... I hope they all get caught. Although looking at the numbers of arrests there's not going to be any room to send them all to prison so no doubt they'll be given suspended sentences and a fine, which they won't be able to pay because they're on limited incomes so what's that going to teach them?! What justice will there be for the poor women who were in a restaurant that was attacked and had their wedding rings stolen?! The thought of someone actually mugging me like that makes me sick. _pale_

I'm not sure if we should be going to London on Friday or not?!

ETA: I enjoyed Zumba for a while Flower, think the woman who taught the class wasn't very good as it got a bit samey after a few weeks, if the teacher's good it's really fun :)

Oh and you're not a horrible person to think that about sending in the army, you're just as fed up as the rest of us! I looked on the BBC and they said that a survey was done and 9/10 people support the use of water canons and a third support the use of live ammunition!

Cinny are you getting the zumba thing for the wii?? I saw that advertised yesterday and would love to get it for after the baby is born.

CMD hope your OH is okay and that he doesn't lose any salary over this due to it being the boss's fault. although what a hold to have over your boss heehee!!

flower i would also have sent the army in days ago. see how hard they think they are when the army arrives with live ammunition. can't see why the police can't use water cannons and rubber bullets though. the animals deserve it by now.

CMD, that's terrible about your OH, glad it wasn't more serious and hope he does get some compensation - or a goodwill gesture? - from his company.

I don't know what the advice is on going to London, Birdie. Even yesterday they were suggesting that commuters leave the centre before evening. Though daylight doesn't seem to make too much difference! I'm supposed to be going up on Friday for a meeting (interview:D) but not sure I fancy being stuck in central London on Friday night.

The clean up operations are really heartwarming! It does restore a little of my faith in humanity. I watched Newsnight last night and I'm glad I'm not in charge, because I didn't really agree with any of them and the underlying issues are impossible to address. Michael Gove was such a sleaze. I don't think the answer is locking them all up for long stretches - perhaps make examples of a few, but custodial sentences almost invariably lead to more criminal activity and it costs about £20k a year for the privilege. But I guess it's idealistic to think that they would invest the money 'saved' in areas where it's needed - these disenfranchised communities, education, jobs, police, nursing etc.

The whole thing just makes me feel sick too :(

Birdie, well done on joining the gym - and going! After my negativity towards it I'm tempted to rejoin mine. I used to pay £36 a month, but they've sent an offer to ex-members for £15 a month, including classes, no contract. So I might just do it! I miss spinning in the bicycle shed :o

London seemed quiet last night Birdie. The areas you'll be going into with your Mum should be totally cool. There was almost no trouble in central London this week, I think a couple of windows smashed. I wouldn't worry about coming down, you'll still have a great time.
