I'd never find some of those prices - probably partly due to where I live, but also I wouldn't buy really cheap eggs or meat. I probably can't afford to be choosy, but we compromise by eating much less meat and only buy decent quality/sustainable meat and fish and free range eggs

I understand the misconception that cheap = bad quality but I would never knowingly buy battery eggs, or meat from animals that suffered. Aldi sell 6 medium free range eggs for 89p and I trust that the chickens are treated well. Unlike with Happy Eggs where you pay £2.60+ for 6 eggs to find the hens are treated horribly. I can also get 6 free range eggs for £1 from a shop on the corner where the guy is known for treating his hens more than well. Also all Aldi meat can be traced to the British farm it came from, and I trust them again in that the animals are treated well. I can't comment on the fish, but then you all know I don't buy that :) I don't want to seem like I'm ranting on here, but I just had to say :o

That wasn't a rant! :) I don't subscribe to the cheap = bad quality "misconception" either, Cinny - I agree with you, I was referring to the price of free range eggs and ethically sourced meat rather than blindly choosing Tesco Finest or expensive cuts. Unfortunately without an Aldi or Asda in striking distance, I've never seen 6 free range eggs for less than £1.50!

It's a given that animals suffer for the meat industry - not to mention the environmental consequences - so I suppose I do feel a responsibility not to subsidise anything I can't trust; the problem is that you don't really know what goes on, so I guess we all just do what we can. And I'm completely uneasy about the dairy industry as a whole, but best not to get started on that :o

Hope that wasn't too much of a rant either!

Time to relax with a hot chocolate and some TV, I think. Can't wait to see HP another day! Very intrigued to see how Neville has matured... :p

Hope you've all had good weekends. A weekend at home with the folks sounds nice Wendz!

    Just wrestling! 1-4am

I'm the same Flower, where I don't like to think I'd put my belly and pennies over quality of life. I think if it came to it I would end up buying the cheaper meat, but that's only in drastic times I guess! We'd cut back on the amount of meat we ate first.

Just caught up with the thread, that tumblr cartoon made me chuckle! Are you staying up all night Cinny? Eeek!

I am definitely going to see HP again, only saw it in 2D so think I'll see it in 3D next. I don't think I could've coped with 3D first time around, I was an emotional wreck afterwards as it was! There was a little bit of cheering and everyone clapped at the end, but nothing too extreme. I did have a few little cries :o When we saw part 1 there was a girl a few rows in front who was literally sobbing all the way through, proper gasping, shoulder-shaking sobbing. I'm not quite that geeky!

Back to work after a week off but on the upside, I just found a creme egg in the sweetie cupboard, so swings and roundabouts.

Also in money news, I have been very good and listed 20+ things on ebay today (all 99p 'gems') plus some bits on Amazon and £10ish worth to Music Magpie. Don't have much left at all really but am moving house in a few weeks so just keep thinking its less to pack! £57ish Quidco on its way too, so glad I joined this challenge, it feels like its working wonders already! Thank you all for having me!:D

Here you go. But I'll warn you, it's really sad :( I really did trust them, and that's why we bust the budget a little and bought those eggs! That's why now I'm thinking, with buying the 89p ones from Aldi when I can't get the local farmer ones at least then if it turns out to be the same conditions I'm not pushing too much money into their hands.

I understand what you mean though Poddle, I will trust a company until (consider I do) hear something differently, then I will switch. I wish we could afford local farmers where the animals have had a good life but we can't, so like you say we just have to do the best we can! I don't even let myself think of the milk industry, it's horrible.

And yes, I have work tomorrow :o 8-3. As for paint, I liked Wilkinsons One Coat, and does typically go on in one coat when it's over a similar colour. I wouldn't recommend their basics range though, it's like water!

I'm a little bit worried that all the sugar and energy drinks I downed at 1:15pm have only just kicked in and 1) I won't be able to sleep and 2) I'll crash tomorrow at 3 :o But it was worth it. I was hopping around the coffee table at one point containing squeals. This is why I shouldn't be allowed to geek over anything :o

So I'm going to check my banking, see if there's any change to move over too the challenge. Tidy up, iron some of OH's work shirts and try to have a little nap before my alarm goes off. I'm properly wired, those drinks were a bad idea :o

ETA: Got paid, so moved £25 into our bill account and £4 across to the challenge so I'm at £130 and I have no idea where it came from. But my heart feels like it's going to burst from my chest and I feel like I need to stroke a furry wall. I'll have to ban myself from the thread today if I don't sleep because I know I'll be making zero sense :o

LOL Cinny, hope you managed to sleep! God bless the geeks on here! :D

You did pretty well on the list Dinah, 9 items crossed off is good going in the grand scheme of things. :) Sorry to see you didn't manage the book though, naughty!

I tidied the spare room on Friday (well, I did an OH version of tidying which means clearing the floor and hiding stuff away since I didn't have enough time to really tackle it, the joys of having this desk means I can just shut the mess away!) and we've got a new system, I have emptied a basket and instructed OH to put everything he wants to chuck in the spare room in there then I can put it away properly without getting mad because he's filling up all of my space with my junk! :)

Not nice about the 'Happy Eggs'!
