Hi everyone
Is it NIMs birthday today, if it is Happy Birthday! Have a good one!
Dinah what are you applying to do at uni?
Happy duedate Flower, hope the little one comes soon for you. Can't wait to hear the arrival.
CMD - hope the move is going well . Sounds like you have got good control over the debt and the new plan does sound managable.
We have been down with the family for a long weekend as OH is off for just over a week. Was really nice seeing everyone and enjoying the last few days of heat!
I need to try and build up my savings a bit again as used most of them towards the new car stuff.
My october challenge is going to be to complete at least £15 worth of surveys a week. I am doing quite well on them at the moment and the extra money/vouchers will really help out.0 -
Haha flower you are entitled to hate the warmth in that case, no one would dare argue with a heavily pregnant lady. Hope things start happening soon!
Despite that this pale ginger is missing the sun a lot!
Good luck with the move CMD
Okay my October goals areeee
Sell 10 things on ebay/gumtree etc
Finish sorting out my room
Get back on bing0p0rt and earn a £5 amazon voucher
Do 20 days of shredding
Lose 7lbs (Weighed myself yesterday - eep!)
Apply for a graduate scheme / send a speculative application / Get in touch with agencies who've contacted me
So splitting that down to this week (I feel like Dinah with these lists! Sorry for cluttering your thread up)
Find 5 things to sell and get them cleaned/photographed
Sort one drawer in my room
Earn 2000 BP points
4 days of shredding
Update CV and email/send linkedin message it to agencies
Saving for a deposit: £11,621.15

Last night of honeymoon
Boooooooo....
It has been a great honeymoon, Florence is beautiful and there's a lot to see and do. However, it's also *stuffed* with other tourists, so not very restful. We should have spent half a week in one of the smaller towns in Tuscany.
I would be looking forward to coming home if it wasn't for the week ahead. My supervisors will be giving me feedback on the first chapter I wrote. I don't know what they are going to say, maybe they will even tell me to ditch the whole thing. I'm a bit nervous. Then Mum and Dad are coming to stay for the weekend. Last time my Mum bleached my tea towels because they were stained. There's always some standard to be judged on where I will be found wanting. Tbh I am glad my life is too interesting to consider chores in that detail
My goals for October are in my sig - start saving loads of money for *spends*!! I thought we would be amazingly over budget for holiday spends and I could claim the difference, but somehow we're not. When we went on a wine tour we met this nice couple and their two elderly Mums, nicknamed 'the golden girls'. We had a hilarious chat with them over lunch, and found out when we went to pay that they had paid for us as a gift EUR100!! Isn't that amazing? I'll have to tackle OH and see if there's any leftovers. In fact I think he has a foreign currency stash I could raid from his recent trips. Does husband-burgling count for the £5pd challenge? :rotfl: Also I mean to start sewing with my sewing machine, first of all a pencilcase and then a cushion cover. And finally get my sausage maker into action and make some lovely bangers!!
Sorry this is turning into a mammoth post. So pleased to hear your plans are going well CMD. It must be so hectic for you right now, I hope you hang in thee and get settled soon.
Congrats Flower - hope your wee man makes an appearance soon!
Happy birthday NIM!

Same here! But I don't have the excuse of being busy mum of 2 just about to move country! CMD, you're a marvel, glad it's all going well, and even stupid debts are giving you a break
I had a really busy last week at work (lovely, hectic, emotional!) and this week I'm doing all the chores I'd put off until my week off, which is turning into a full-time job!
I also need to do [STRIKE]a bit [/STRIKE]a lot of wedding planning before I get distracted by Christmas
Lara, enjoy the rest of your honeymoon! Sounds lovely, despite the other tourists, and how nice of the 'golden girls' to treat youTry not to worry about what you've got coming up when you get back. Your October goals sound fun - especially the bangers! - and at least you'll know one way or another about your PhD. But don't be nervous, I'm sure it will be brilliant.
Dinah, how are you feeling about going back to uni? What's the MA?
Zig, so sorry to hear about your uncle, hope your family are ok.

Aw lara that's so lovely of them! You'll have to look out for another honeymooning couple when you're OAPs and do the same!Don't worry about it I don't like the thread tidy and quiet. Is bingoport worth doing again? Sounds like a well thought out set of goals.
Yeah, unless it's changed since I last used it. I just do 10 posts a day for 12 days to get 12,000 points. Then spend 2000 on bingo which is their requirement and redeem 10,000 for amazon voucher. I hate myself a bit for the forum stuff as I reallllly can't stand bingo chat! But beggers cant be choosers!

Dinah - I had no money on my Virgin card. It is worth ringing up and asking them though, as that's what I did!
Happy Birthday NIM!

Will you be taking time off work to do the Masters or is it an evening thing Dinah?
Sad that the honeymoon is over Lara but sounds like you had a lovely time. That was so nice of the people to pay for your meal, you obviously made a good impression.
Poddle - glad the last week went well, hope the wedding planning is coming along!0 -
That was so lovely of those people, Lara!! I always hear of little stories like that and it never fails to make me smile. That's something I'd love to do one day.clearmydebts wrote: »Cinny - I really admire the way you deal with money. You seem to have a great balance between treating yourself, saving and doing up the house
Thanks!I know we had some Hovis help but I really do like our balance, things aren't hard work anymore which is amazing in itself!
I'm sure you'll be able to lose 7lb no problem Archer! Shredding is my main fat burner, I don't know how Dinah's getting on with it but it's a classic! I'm up to Level 3 now and all I'm thinking is 'what do I do after this?!' I can actually do proper traveling push ups now - I don't fake it out with the girl ones anymore. I was all impressed with myself! It's really killed my stomach chub too, I send progress photos to my Sister and she said I look like someone from a Weight Watchers ad :rotfl: And then kindly added I never looked as whale like as I did in the starting photos.
Hope everything's okay with Flower and le bump!
I got £70 this morning so I'm going to make that last us the next 2 weeks for food (even my super frugal shopping has bumped up over the last few months, it's silly!) and put whatever I have left from my wages after rent into the cars account. I told OH the plan, and how much we'll need for next year and he seems pretty game too.0 -

Cinny, I wouldn't worry about that! One of my friends who's training to be a PT has progressed on to the next level Jillian DVD - she's hardcore! Can't remember what it's called, but I could find out for you.

Lol at your sister - but what a compliment! You've done brilliantlyGood luck with your October weight loss Archers, I'm sure you'll crack it. I need to lose an average of 3lb a month to get to my goal weight for wedding. It would be nice to blitz in more quickly and relax in the run up though. I'm off to a 30 min spin, followed by 30 min abs! But I'm still definitely in the "before" category
