ETA: The fridge is here too. And MASSIVE! Although the wine rack is currently stocked with a bottle of vodka and 4 garlic breads.
Lol!, :rotfl:
Loving your house..~I want that rug..and I want it now!
TPAxMFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0 -
Glad you like my house! Or, at least the living room
The rug is from Argos, TPA. And it's very toe-wiggling squishy! I felt a bit shameful admitting our garlic bread - we're kind of addicted! Hope your Mum is doing well btw, I always mean to comment on your thread but feel out of place not being a MFW-er!
I can't really comment on the carpet, CMD. My Uncle picked it for us, I did ask OH who said it's "like a very milky cup of tea.." I think it's just the most basic, natural carpet my Uncle could find.
Properly fuming at my Brother's Girlfriend today. She's actually, despite calling all the shots, not putting any money into getting their house fixed up. Her excuse is 'well, what if we break up?' Err, you don't friggen move in with someone if you think you're going to break up somewhere down the line! I wish I could steal NIM's brain for a couple minutes when they're over for tea tomorrow night to either say something that will make her snap out of being a controlling, money grabbing git bag or just wise her up a little to how she's being. But then it isn't really my place, I just hate seeing my Brother being used like this0 -

* blush *
Aww Cinny. Tell ya what, cover my petrol and I'll come do it gratis, just to see the look on her face. I honest to god cannot figure this girl out. If she wants it decorating her way then she should pay for it, otherwise !!!!!! and let the person who'll be there after you leave him decorate the place how he would like it.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -

I actually think its beter if he does pay for it himself as it means she can't sting him for any money if they do break up. Being honest, if she is questioning a potential breakup at a time when they should be so excited about decorating a house I would question if she is in it for the longhaul anyway.
But I totally agree that if she won't pay for anything she should have no say whatsoever. Tell your brother to man up!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Loving the house pics Cinny, looks very swish and cosy too!
Your brothers girlfriend really does sound like a piece of work! Very worrying she is thinking about if they break up. Like CMD said though maybe it is better if she doesn't contibute so can't claim anything if they do.
I have got a friend from uni coming to visit us today so hopefully we will go out somewhere as weather is quite nice for once.0 -

Is the house (morgage/deposit) all in your brothers name? If so then definately better she doesn't pay so she has no claim. If its in both their names and she's talking about breaking up she could welll be simply waiting until the house is finished, she will be entitled to her share (either half or the percentage she put in depending on if they're tenants in common or joint tennants or whatever it is) and obviously she will profit from the increased value as well as not having to shell out for the works. It could be hard to prove he paid for everything and therefore all increase in value is his and his alone and she's only entitled to a share of the original worth (which you then come down to has it risen or shrunk slightly since they bought?). Property law and family law is a beast and you're right to be concerned she's a sponger if she's acting this way!
Can't get hold of my cousin - supposed to be staying at hers in London on Saturday but if I can't get hold of her we're going to have to get a hotelDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I don't get her either, NIM! My Brother is 100% sure she'll be different when they move in together because when her Dad goes on holiday and they live at her house for the week she's a 'totally different person' I don't think he gets she's just different because she basically has him under lock and key, knowing where he is all the time.
But no, it's a rental. From the family like what me and OH rent but they're to be seen as our houses. If that makes sense?! I can understand in a way her being wary about putting money towards full on building things. But to totally be against cosmetic things? Just seems so OTT. CMD did make a great point, at least it's all my Brother's that way. I'll just have to remember that next time she's going off on one.
Hope you get in touch with your cousin though Dinah, she might just have had a couple really busy days?
The weather is lovely here too, was boiling all weekend actually! It's like Summer decided it wanted to come back for a little bit0 -
Hail on wednesday up here apparently :SThis was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

Ah, that's probably fair enough if its a rental as its family your brother would keep it. Personally I'd not put any money into a rental either - I know its different for you and your brother but for her its still a home she doesn't own and anything she puts in on doing it up will be completely lost if your brother kicked her out.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
