I started this year with a quarterly goals list which I have pinned to my fridge door. I've divided it into different sections eg Old Style[!] [that'll be sorting out the old style file which I'm still ignoring next to my bed...just adding to it weekly!], work, DIY, Health etc. With working fulltime and running a home I find it helps me portion out my limited free time sensibly but still leaves me time to spend with my small person which is top of my list of priorites. It worked quite well for the first quarter as I can see how far I've come but it's by no means set in stone...things that don't get done get moved on. I've found it's also stopped the "I'm not achieving anything cycle" I was going round. Have just finished the bathroom woodwork and am looking to start making some of the recipes out of my preserves book. I'm such a child that I've used all my rainbow pens on it to make it look cheerful and as less like a list of jobs as possible!!

Hi TAG
I haven't bothered with the 'lose weight/get organised' type of aims, I work on the theory that if I haven't managed it in the last 56 years I'm not going to now!!! I don't intend to spend time getting upset about that sort of stuff, no one ever lay on their deathbed wishing they'd done more housework.
I told hubby when we met that I didn'd 'do domestics' but that I had another talent that I can't post on here.
He tells me that he didn't believe me about the domestics, but he does now & he never complains. I do cook, but hate housework with a passion!
Hugs
Hester

Aims for this weekend -- Tidy house after visitors (who went home this am)
- Post some more clutter on freecycle
- Declutter a chest of drawers (which is half empty so quite a small job!)
- Finish setting up my new craft/art/sewing area
- Back to 3 times a week for gym (been missing a lot of days)
- Wash at least two pairs of curtains or one pair curtains and clean a roller blind
- Get one duvet or comforter washed – means a visit to the launderette!
- Start organising direct debit payment for my utilities when I finally get the card etc for my basic bank account
- Keep practicing my menu planning and shopping budget
- Continue saving small change; current total £114
... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Shortie's 2007 targets... they feel pretty HUGE right now but here goes
1) Reduce Spending and increase saving as much as possible in the next 6 months and a bit as I've just found out I'm pregnant again with number 2. This time I want to take off as much Maternity leave as I can but as the main earner in the family, it's impossible with our expenditure at the moment. Main plans to do this are:
1.a. Reduce Life and Home cover that are due to be changed in Jan done, down from £100 for both to £12 for both
1.b. Reduce shopping account spending as much as possible so that I don't have to pay into it while on maternity leave and can live on the savings in that account Hmmm... still a work-in-progress this, but we're defiantely getting it down, but not at the stage of saving money yet, just not constantly in the red on the shopping account!
1.c. stop paying £100 into Shares account with workplace, and put that money straight into a Maternity account. The money I've already saved and will get back is go into that too Done
2) Notch up the allotment to full gear. Got it late last year and haven't got much cleared. I know I need to take it easier now but the exercise and fresh air will do me good and OH has promised to help me out Hmm... spd stopped this but my Dad has taken over for me this year and we have potatoes, garlic and gooseberries growing already. Brussels, beans and peas planted last weekend in seed trays
3) Finally get the house decorated. We've lived here near on two years now and it's getting silly My Dad's starting on Monday to take out our chimney breasts and then finishing off other jobs for us (he's being paid ofcourse!)
Wow... jotting that down helped my really think properly about what I want to achieve and how
Cor blimey.. looking back at this I've managed to do the above so far...April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
As 2006 draws to a close, We have been looking back on a year of many changes for my family & I. With the help of many people from this site(especially O/S) we have achieved so much in our search for a more enriched lifestyle.
So, for 2007 we have laid down our plans to continue what we have already started and to improve on many:
Grow double the amount of produce we did in 2006, Because of the weather it wasn't as productive as I had hoped:mad:
Reduce our monthly shopping bill from £200 to £150,(family of 4) which should be achieveable due to the above, My spending has actually increase by about £30 per month:o
Monitior the amount of food wasteage and aim to throw nothing away, I freeze anything & everything if it isn't eaten to re-use as something else:j
Make our own wine,
oops not managed this one either
Reduce our weekly refuse collections bags to one per week(currently have 2)
by recycling more, YaY, success, I even don't buy Bin bags now:j
Aim to reduce the Asda shop thus supporting local/independent retailers. This has to be the biggest improvement made by us, I now ONLY enter a supermarket when can't sourse the goods elsewhere, its a fantastic way to shop and highly recommend it
Has anyone else made any similar plans or goals for the forecoming year? If so I'd love to hear what they are:D
