You've got to train em right - its taken me nearly 40 years, and it worked. OH tends to do a lot more than me now!!! I stopped sending Christmas cards about 5 years ago, but he got some given to him at a club he goes to this year, and had to send some out :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: - can't understand why I wasn't going to do it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
One bit of advise, make sure you treat your young sons the way that you teach your daughters to help - your future daughter-in-laws will love you for it.0 -
(((OP and others in the same situation)))
I think - in fact I know - I'm lucky with DH
Despite coming from a very 'traditional' family in terms of who does what, he's always shared the household chores - in fact at times he does/has done more than me. But, at the same time, it admittedly wasn't always automatic.
But even now he's disabled and can't do as much as before, if the job can be done sitting down, he'll take it on - ironing, washing up, peeling spuds etc - even nappy changes and feeds with the baby (when he was fitter he took on 'night duties' with the elder ones).
I don't think any future daughter in laws (have three boys) will have any problems with my lot - they see Daddy doing things around the house, so it's already normal for them to help as much as they can - and I won't be letting them slip as they get older, lol.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

And get this, quite often I will start off doing the windows, when I'm halfway through he'll say (this gets me soooo mad as well....) "I'd have done that if you'd asked." WHAT... NEXT B****Y YEAR?0 -
I certainly think that it's a man thing with Christmas - I do everything, and tbh - I wouldn't want DH doing any of it - he comes along for the food shopping - and that's the limit of his involvement.
However, he does the cleaning, windows, hoovering - all the odd jobs in the house without being asked, and so can't complain. ((((hugs)))) to those who need them at the mo.0 -

I wrote a big tick list of things that needed doing leading up to the xmas weekend and left it on the kitchen worktop in full view hoping it may prompt OH to help a little - no such luck
I feel like today is the first day since Sunday I've sat down and tonight I actually get to sleep in my own bed as I've had relatives borrowing it for the last few nights! I must admit I was getting a little harrassed when I was trying to serve up Roast Beef dinner to 11 folks yesterday and my sister, who said she'd do the pudding, left it till the last minute to do it so was getting in my way! Grrr!
:T Anyway, well done everyone! You all did a good job, whether or not your OH's helped!:rotfl:"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -

Cor you're lucky! Loading the washing machine! Now that is a new man! I asked my OH to load the washing machine and turn it on and then hang the washing out while I was at work. Guess what he did....none of it. His reason you ask? Because he didn't know how to use the washing machine. I said I would show him. He said no because then that would mean that I would ask him to do it more often. :mad:Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:
