Mine helped me shampoo the carpet but I think that's because he was wanting to see how the new shampooer worked.

My OH is pretty good around the house but I have to ask him to say hoover the stairs or whatever. He will shop on his own but prefers a list and he always comes with me to pack and carry the bags to the car.

Things like washing cars, cleaning the windows etc he does without being asked and he always does a good job of clearing up after cooking, he usually makes the tea when I'm working.

I have bought and wrapped most of the christmas presents this year because I spend a couple of evenings shopping with my DD when he was away on business, he hates that kind of shopping but bites the bullet when it has to be done.

Have I got a good one or is he just well trained?

Did you ask him to help? As far as I can work out, men often can't be bothered with Christmas and it is usually women who send out the cards, organise presents, clean the house etc. To be fair to the men, most of the stuff women subject themselves to is completely unnecessary and I'm not surprised they don't bother. (The giving of cards is one of those pointless exercises that I'm not surprised they don't bother with to be honest.)

To turn it around a bit, is it not a good thing that your daughter thinks the sun shines out of his @@@@? Does that not mean that he's doing something very right?

Why are you annoyed at him for making a curry?

Of course, if you just felt like a whinge about him, I'm sorry for being reasonable. :o:D

Geeze we guys are taking a bashing here today!!!

From a modern guys perspective I have no issues with my GF actually joining in with some domestic chores. We have an arrangement, I look after the house and SHE looks after the car!!! Odd I know but it works.

For all you ladies with lazy partners just hide the sky remote, sit them down and talk about it. If it doesnt work then hire a cleaner while partner is at work and take the money to pay for this out of the housekeeping!!!!

You've got a man that does things without being asked? I don't believe you lol. Where did you get him from? The only thing my OH does without being asked is wash the car - takes him about 3 hours - and during that time he will make himself about 4 mugs of coffee. When I've crept out to see what he's up to he's sitting in the garage reading an old newspaper "waiting for the car to dry."

When I do need help with jobs around the house ie windows cleaned his stock reply is (this gets me soooo mad!...) "What... now?" YES, B****Y NOW! Jobs usually start off with me ASKING him... They end up with me TELLING him. No wonder women have the reputation of being nags. We're NOT nags, if men did as they were asked first time there would be no need to repeat the request.

And get this, quite often I will start off doing the windows, when I'm halfway through he'll say (this gets me soooo mad as well....) "I'd have done that if you'd asked." WHAT... NEXT B****Y YEAR?

If I can see the oven/hob/floor/bathroom/windows/woodwork/dusting/hoovering etc., need doing WHY CAN'T HE?

    I've got one as well.

After living with the last one who did nothing that he considered to be "womans work", and even things like decorating and putting shelves up were classed as "womans work", it makes a refreshing change to have one that loves cooking, and will hoover, clean, tidy up etc., when it needs doing.

I'll not be letting this one get away :D
Here I go again on my own....

Huge hugs to delhome and flufff! This time of year I think your expectations are so high that I think as a female we just want everything to be PERFECT!! I have a wonderful man who does his share all round the house - but ladies - he still needs to be coaxed at times!! IMHO if you're going out with a lazy partner you shouldn't move in with them unless you're willing to accept that part of their nature. I wouldn't like to move in with someone who expected me to change to suit them, I want to be loved for me - warts and all!! The men in question probably wish you'd just chill out a bit (impossible at this time of year though lol!!) If you want loads of things about your partner to change ladies - you're maybe with the wrong man!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all - oh and Fluff - with all respect - he's left you at this time of year he possibly isn't the nice person you thought. xxx

I have waited six years for a replacement bedroom door. And a banister on the wall coming down the stairs.

I bought the stuff, paid his Dad (FIL) £50 to do some odd jobs for me, and my OH had the nerve to come home and "Is that straight - let me check".....

But - he is happy to work all the hours sent, so in one hand you get it, and the other taketh it away!

I do need to ask if I need something done. Never DIY - don't go there - but washing up, bins etc, I need to tell him that it needs doing if I want help.
