  • Morning all :)

    What a weekend!!!

Well Sat was taken up with work, as usual, and then by the time I got home & cooked myself some dinner, the rest of the night was spent relaxing on the sofa (while watching a interesting documentory about the US space shuttles).

Sun involved tidying the house, attempting to fix the lock on the drivers door of our car (which I'm pleased to report, after many hours of frustration & cursing, now works :j) & then of to join OH for an eveing of rowing on the river, a few drinks in a (picture perfect) pub, followed by a well much needed BBQ at about 10pm! :rotfl:

Mon am (was painful to get out of bed at stupid o'clock) driving OH to work (OH had been away since after work fri for her Hen Weekend) & then back home to get car MOT'd, small amout of food shopping, MORE housework & final sitting down to watc highlights of the german GP (What a race!).

Then the evening chores started - with me finally falling asleep on the sofa :rotfl:

    Today back to work :(

Thats a lot of housework :D
Glad your mum is enjoying "Hovel". Tell her the follow up is "Garden in the hills" and there's also a cookbook "Kitchen in the hills".
And if she wants to find out what they did later "A patch in the forest".
Hovel dog nips in to say "Howdy Puddy cats I'm very well thankyou. How are you? Woof".

Hope your ebay stuff sells. Sometimes there seems to be no logic as to what sells and what doesn't.
That IS a lot of spending :rotfl:

    Hi All,

I hope everyone is having a good day?

It's grey & over cast here again :(

Having a little wobble today wondering how on earth I'm ever going to get my finances striaght & out of debt

This time of month is the worse, as I've been paid but my OH gets paid today
(but funds don't go into joint acc till 1st/2nd - need to investigate), meaning there is a gap (I normally end up bridging) when rent, council tax & home insurance comes out of our joint account before OH wages go in.
For last 6 months (or so) I have been using the cash I've saved for the wedding/my OD to bridge this gap, but now the wedding fund has all but gone & I've reduced my OD acouple of months ago, so not sure if enough funds in there

Been, trying, to work out the cost for my commute when I move work premises in acouple of weeks & I won't be saving as much as I had hoped :(

The most economical method, train & bicycle, would mean adding an extra hour to my working day - meaning I would have EVEN less of a home life, although I suppose less time to spend money also!

Last night OH announced she wants us to write our own vows for the wedding, which is a lovely idea, but as I'm feeling stressed & under pressure from the wedding & work premises move - I'm not feeling very inspired or motivated, which isn't helping the stress

Got my stag this weekend, which I'm more concerned about, rather than looking forward too. To say the least, I haven't got high expectations . . .

    . . . right, sorry - rant over.

Just have that world closing in on me feeling atm & can't find my step ladder to get out

    Today's DSR

£224 - Fees for Registra (wedding account)
    £5.99 - Bottle of Wine (c/a)

    Right must dash,

    Take care one & all

I have days like that too. Two things usually help.
One: getting togther some sort of a plan. Even if it's not complete. And write it down. Somehow that gets it out of my head where it's whizzing round and making me feel lousy.
Two: do something nice for myself. But do not spend money or I'll end feeling worse later. Reading a good book with tea & biscuits help. Or a long walk to mull over plans for my hovel.
    Does that make sense?
Can you change the dates the c/tax etc come out? Might be worth a phone call if it's only a couple of days.
Hope you find your step ladder very soon xx

    Hi All,

Thank you HL for your kind words - I shall look into the c/tax payment date change.

    The sun is shinning :j

Still in a quandry if I should up our joint account O/D to cover the gap between salaries going in - I know it will only be used for those couple of days a month as a stop gap, but it's the dread of another O/D. Then again I think I could just about cover it using my O/D & then transfer monies back into my account when OH salary goes in, but then it's still using my O/D.

    Going for a NSD :D

Didn't manage a NSD as remembered had car tax to pay for :(

    £74.00 - car insurance ( T*sco c/c)

I've decided I don't like it when at work on own & quite, as allows time for me to ponder life's little mystries - or in my case . . . worry :( I much prefer running around like a headless chicken, with not enough hours in the day, rather than having nothing to do. Luckly in the new work premises there will be alot more things to be done - so looking forward to that aspect :) (although give me acouple of months & reminded me of this post when moaning about how busy I am :rotfl:). The other good thing about the new work premises, is there are no shops near by (unlike my current one) so less tempation :D

I hope everyone is having a great thursday - nearly the weekend :j

  • Morning All!

    How are we all today?

It's nasty & overcast again here today, but dispite that I'm in a suprisingly chipper mood, putting this down to the fact that it's my stag this weekend & looking forward to catching up with my mates, some of which I haven't seen for over a year! :j

It is a sad day as well, as it's the end of an era - as of 4pm today my beloved showroom is closing, due to relocation to a bigger & better factory/showroom at head office (which will be amazing & v.excited about). I'm going to be sad to leave this showroom thou, as I was part of the opening team & been here through good times & bad (was closed for 4 months at begining of year due to burst pipes!!!). So fare well old friend . . . :(

It's a bit of strange day today because of that fact but like I said overall it's a positive, as the new business premises is closer to home, meaning savings on my daily commute, it's the largest showroom the company has ever had & I get on really well with my collegues in HO - so looking forward to working with them more closely.

Anyways before I send everyone to sleep about my work commitments - back to my DFW diary.

1 of my Ebay items ends later today, so fingers crossed will get a sale on it - got serveral 'watchers' but no bids currently. With another one in the same situation ending over the weekend.

I'm stretching my will power currently by not giving into the temptation to go to the shop next door & buy biscuits, as really craving something sweet!

Did something I was very proud of yesterday - I removed the OD from my 'wedding account' as I don't use it, acc meant to be a saving acc but need a debit card for purchases from it, & better to get rid of temptation - than falling into it in a weak moment :j

Right I'm going to wish you all a brilliant weekend, as I'm unlikely to be able to sign back in till next week now & i look forward to cacthing up on everyones diaries apon my return (& once I've recovered for the hangover that I'm sure I will be suffering from :rotfl:) :D

    Have you recovered yet? :rotfl:
Do hope you had a great time and look forward to catching up with you :D
  • I had an amazing weekend thanks HL & didn't have to much of a hangover (suprisingly considering started at midday & got back to my hotel at 6:30am the next day!!!). :rotfl:My biggest complaint was lack of sleep & the rockie mistake of wearing new shoes, therefore my feet were in shreads!

The reason I haven't been back on since is it's all been full steam forwards the last week & still this week. In the midst of business premises relocation & I have been literally putting my all into that!

Then the past weekend has been concentrating on wedding plans, as less than 3 weeks remaining now!!! (must change my signature).

Not been that great at MSE this past week, as the physical extersion has meant I've given into cold drinks from the shop & engery providing foods ie. choc bars :o

Anyways I hope everyone is well & enjoying the improved weather, I will get back on here & catch up with everyone very soon.

    Take Care :)

Glad you're back. Was wondering if you'd been left stranded somewhere by your mates on your stag do :rotfl:
Are you enjoying your new work location?
    Doing well here thankyou.
