Well, intresting you say that, a few users on this forum have had similar experiamces to me
I questioned them, and they told me there is no refund, so I can't comment, but would be intrested to know what the full policy is. Do you have a copy of the hand-outs or something?
It would be valuable to post!:beer:HAPPY TO HELP :beer:0 -
I don't at present but can get one.
I'm really sorry that some stores haven't properly trained the staff on the new procedures. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Are you kidding me!?!?!
If we made ANYTHING in the region of 600% profit I would be having a SERIOUS discussion with my superiors about a pay rise!!!
At best, clothing retailers profit margins run in the region of 60-70% when selling at full price.
Take into consideration offers like '2 For 1' / '3 For 2' / 'Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price' and the margins drop again.
When it comes to the January sales, the old reduced stock is lucky to be making 10%, and many of it is running at a loss - the object being to clear the dead stock, not make profits.
You are correct, this is all taken into consideration when setting retail prices. However gone are the days when you could just start at unbelievable prices and then advertise 'Last Chance To Get 90% OFF!' The clothes will simple not sell - customers are wise to that! The original price needs to be believable.
When you take into consideration running costs (rates/wages/transport/etc), the majority of retailers do not make a profit for 90% of the year. It is only in the run up to Christmas that any profit is made.0 -
I bought my husband a jumper@£55.00 on Saturday before christmas,
also a tee shirt for 18.50 at Debenhams, went into the store yesterday and both items had been reduced, so I rang my daughter who was going to meet me that afternoon for some lunch, to pop home and put them back into the carrier bags,(not been worn till had the tags on )I had the reciepts in my purse, I then took them back got a refund for £73.50 and then rebought the items for £53.00, no problem at all, I have never had a problem with Debenhams, bought myself two jumpers reduced from £18.00 to £9.00 with the extra cash.Cheeky I know but why not.0 -
i was surprised to find they wouldn't give me a rufund on some sale items earlier this year. Not only that - they wouldn't take the items off me and give me a credit note - I had to keep returning to the store carrying the items I was exchanging a few times until I finally found something I wanted.
I hope this policy has changed because it was very annoying and I'd actually forgotten about it until this post.[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]

Got this sorted. I simply took it back to a Debenhams store, and asked for a refund. The kid at the counter, said something about you usally need to return the items at the store you bought them for but would take them this time - The fact it was reduced by more than 50% was not a problem0 -
To-day my son took a Ben Sherman Cardigan back to Debenhams to change for a smaller size, no problems at all, and best thing about it they gave him a exchange and £10.00 back it had gone down, but was not marked up for the sale, he did have his reciept with him, but he did not expect any cash back.
Never ever had a problem with Debenhams..............0 -
This was last January, but I bought a king sized matress protector from debenhams, took it home, opened it up to find it was only a single size, drove straight back (£1.10p parking!) and got the third degree from an assistant who didn't want to give me a refund as it was a sale item. I had to point out it was not fit for purpose and as described (plus even at half price I'd paid more than the cost of a single one) before I could get my money back. There were none left so I left empty handed and down by parking an petrol money.0
