Yes, quite a lot in fact, but the main pointer................

Of course those in the know would already know this, but you can always double check it rather than guessing..............

No one has said it was unfair though. OP admits his brother used the wrong service so are you really suggesting that it is wrong for paypal to ask someone to abide by the terms they signed up to?

But if OP paid Paypal to transfer some money, which he did, why should he have to pay up when Paypal reverse the transaction?

    How is that fair?

Factor in that users are *forced* to use paypal and surely the most loyal Ebay employee would be able to see that it's grossly unfair for users?

I'm not sure you are reading the same thread that I am.

Please please please dont ignore them - they will turn up at your door! I was in a simalar position with my ex (PP acc etc were in my name), we then split up & moved out, they still found me at my new address. Don't mess them around or fob them off, they'll only add to the debt & its really not worth it. Your brother should've sent it on a different postal service, its not Paypals fault he didnt. Cant argue with that but please do not ignore them. He needs to pay you so you can get them off your back as they will find you for that amount :(

I am sorry to hear you had similar issues. I have come across several people who have had the most awful time with debt collectors employed by paypal..even down to speaking to their neighbours about the persons debts. It never ceases to astound me how they get away with such disregard of the rules governing debts.

If I sent an item out which was worth £200 to me I'd jolly well spend a tiny fraction of that on sending it either special delivery or with a courier for protection. It's like complaints over fees - sometimes people are so greedy for all that they can cling on to they actively make things worse for themselves and lose sight of what they have got while moaning about what they haven't. Even if you end up with less as a result, you still get to keep the bulk of the payment and the buyer gets their item, so everyone ends up on top. You can't prove the buyer has it, you have to pay the money you owe, ignore the people here who say otherwise. It was your mistake - you take responsibility for it.

If you ever wanted to buy or sell on ebay, or use paypal again, pay-up. Get your brother to chip in some money as it was partly his fault, but pay up when the amount is only £200 and not £400+ once the debt collectors come around.

Debt collectors cannot add £200 onto a debt.
