Ignore them, they're just trying to bully you into paying.

They lost the money not you, it's their problem.

No credit, mortgage or anything like it for 6 years...do yu really want that.

    Not true.

I've yet to see any evidence that a negative Paypal balance has any effect on anyones credit rating.

And as they chose to offshore to avoid UK legislation and taxation their options for trying to get the money back are limited to using DCAs.

I see. An off-shore company is fair game to renege on a debt.

Hello I hope I have posted this in the correct place. At present my Ebay account is negative £200, this is because I sold a laptop and my dopey brother posted it by standard parcels (aka no tracking). To cut A long story short the buyer claims in never arrived and did a charge back through ebay.

Today at 11am Ebay phone me up asking for a £200 payment to bring my account back into the green, I said I'm not paying I posted it ect and the buyer has got a free laptop, the ebay guy said I broke the t&c,s by not posting it recorded.

He said If i dont pay it will be passed to a collection agency who will come to my house and collect the money. Can they do that? I'm sure they cant just turn up an my house and demand money can they?

If I have to pay it back I'll just pay a fiver a week surely they cant make me pay it all back at once. its made me:mad:

    F*^K EBAY

You, and you alone are 100% responsible for that £200. Actually, your brother is, but it's between you and him if you want to ask him for the money.

At over £46, it should have been sent SPECIAL delivery too...

No point b*tching and blaming Ebay. It is not their fault, and you owe them the money.

Just pay the £200, put it down to experience and move on.

They really will take you to court for the money, which could end up ruining your credit rating, which in would then mean you'd struggle to get a loan (including mortgage) at a decent rate for years... not really worth it for something that was your mistake.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Paypal/ebay don't want any of the risks and try through various means to pass *all* risk and *all* costs to the seller.

    Have I missed anything?

Find **one** just **one** example of **anyone** who Paypal have taken to court.

And how could they take anyone to court given that they offshored to avoid UK legislation?

And how could they ruin anyone's credit rating?

Don't fall for the ebay/paypal brainwashing.

Yes, quite a lot in fact, but the main pointer................
Under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy, if we resolve a dispute in the buyer’s favour, we may:
    • remove funds from the seller’s PayPal account to reimburse the buyer for the cost of the item and the original postage cost in accordance with the seller’s authorisation provided to us under this User Agreement; or,
    • where there are insufficient funds in the seller’s PayPal account or where PayPal is not the reimbursement method of the seller, directly refund the buyer for the cost of the item and the original postage cost, and, in this case, the seller must reimburse us in full, and in a timely manner, for an amount equivalent to the sum we paid to the buyer.

Of course those in the know would already know this, but you can always double check it rather than guessing..............

If I was you and I say this lightheartedly, try and find out if it was delivered by either asking for information from post office which sorting office it went through. try and find out from their neighbours [ once someone phoned a mr smith in the same street as me and he told them where I lived] ie their might be a smith in his street check phone book u have his name and address. write to buyer and tell him you have been informed it has been delivered and that if he doesnt cough up you will send debt collectors to his address too. you never know he might pay up??
