  • just a thought for those using own brand stock cubes, please compare the salt content it can more than the named brands however, sains basic veg cube (1g per 100ml) is lower than oxo veg cube (1.23g per 100ml) just a thought.....

Never thought to check before buying but just had a look at the Tesco value box and its 1.2g per 112ml.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to add a couple of my bits

Tesco Value Foam Bath 1L 40p
I mainly use this as hand wash, it doesnt have a strong smell which I like.

Tesco yeast extract (Marmite) 240g £1.89
I know its not the basic range but tastes just as good as real thing I think Asda do the same but ive not tired it.

ASDA Smartprice Tissues White (150) 54p
    Works well for me.

just a few extra suggestions on the value brands.

I have stocked up on the sainsbury's value baby lotion. It is good quality and not too runny. My hubby uses it on it's own but I mix it with my posh brands and christmas presents to make them go further.

The tesco value foam bath makes a good handsoap as it is thick and smell nice but I do also water it down and nobody notices.

Personally i am not keen on the hair products and would rather stick to the 20p superdrugs shampoos and conditioners. The shampoos don't tend to soap up much and the conditioner doesn't make your hair soft.

I would recommend looking out for Mr T's 3for 2 aisles as often the value are included too. In the past I have bought Mr T's value lemon curd for example

Also if anyone is not keen on particular supermarkets value products sometimes Wilkinson's do some good deals on their own ranges or branded items. Probably not lemon curd though.:money:

thanks for your commets alleycat, i have added your comments to the first page. I notice you listed various biscuits, have you tried all of those in the sainsburys basic version and tesco value range also?

Hi, I can't remember which of the Tesco value ones we've tried but we've definitely tried the Sainsbury basics chocolate bourbons, jaffa cakes and chocolate digestives. I checked the nutrition labels on the morrisons ones to see if the salt/sugar/fat was higher and I think it was just a tiny bit but nothing major.

Has anyone tried Sainsburys Basics Unsalted Butter £1.10 for 250g,? I bake cakes and use unsalted butter and was wondering if this has a pleasant taste.
