just a few extra suggestions on the value brands.

I have stocked up on the sainsbury's value baby lotion. It is good quality and not too runny. My hubby uses it on it's own but I mix it with my posh brands and christmas presents to make them go further.

The tesco value foam bath makes a good handsoap as it is thick and smell nice but I do also water it down and nobody notices.

Personally i am not keen on the hair products and would rather stick to the 20p superdrugs shampoos and conditioners. The shampoos don't tend to soap up much and the conditioner doesn't make your hair soft.

I would recommend looking out for Mr T's 3for 2 aisles as often the value are included too. In the past I have bought Mr T's value lemon curd for example

Also if anyone is not keen on particular supermarkets value products sometimes Wilkinson's do some good deals on their own ranges or branded items. Probably not lemon curd though.:money:

    thanks Rosie

I find most sainsburys basics good, but the three that I dont rate are washing up liquid or the shampoo or conditioners. However I used up the basics shampoo as a shower gel/wash, and the basics conditioner, left my hair a greasy mess, but I used it to shave my legs, and it worked a treat :)

hey londonirish, so do you consider the basic sainsburys shampoo and conditioner a recommendation or a dont buy? I have added the washing up liquid to the front page, thankyou

I've recently started buying more SmartPrice items and have been really impressed. Most of them have already been mentioned but two that I would add are the Bolognese Sauce and Sparkling Water. The Bolognese has quite a light flavour but it works really well with something like some stuffed pasta for a very cheap meal. The water is ridiculously cheap and tastes no different from any other brand.

Tried the dairy toffee today and wasn’t convinced, it was far too solid.
  • Sainsburys Basics Fromage Frais (45p for 6) and chocolate mousse (31p for 4) come highly recommended in this household!

    eppp :)
