Im a little confused, how could you expect them to refund you, when the money hasnt come out of your account?? surely the gripe is with the coop bank not Tesco?

The OP paid on a card and should have been refunded on to a card, what happens in between those transactions has nothing to do with the OP0 -
My Alliance & Leicester cad can't be credited by Tesco for any DTD I have had in the past.
Its a weird system in Tesco. If it was a regular debit card then they can refund you cash. Always have with me.
Either way get the reciept marked to say a refund is due.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
rang head office first thing this morning, they rang store and we are waiting for checkout manager to ring us back.
not heard anything yet so just rang head office any they are going to ring checkout manager back again to investigate issue - which is wrong label under tv - she acknowledge it was a mistake yesterday. but head office told us this morning should be dtd.
anyway waiting again.
wonder if we should jsut go back into store and kick up a fuss but don;t want to waste our weekend (OH watching grand prix) and i don;t want to stand/slump there with my back/wrists and our young son who had to wait in car.0 -
Think you should also be compensated for all the hassle and worry over this - not very good PR is it? Any more hassle adn I'd say I was goin to the local paper about it.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

An awful experience for you & I hope you get it sorted soon.
A couple of things did strike me though. Firstly regarding double the difference. Are you sure it was exactly the same TV that was advertised at £299? You say...morledge142 wrote: »we saw a telly on display with a small yellow label attached to shelf underneath saying £299 reduced from £379, £329.
it was a samsung telly so went to get one off main shelf at end of an isle with a large £80 off hanging overhead. did have label at £379. we assumed it was same one because of £80 off hanging overhead.
You also say, they tried to refund but coop bank would not do it.
It seems then the issue is with the Co-op bank, if they wouldn't accept the refund. Did you have another card they could have put the refund on? If not, that may have been the problem. Did you speak to the Team Leader and/or the duty Manager? Sometimes they are able to do more than the desk staff when a tricky situation arises.
It doesn't help I suppose that it is now the weekend & if your bank is putting a block on the refund, there won't be anyone to speak to until Monday. Tesco's Head Office will probably be the best route to go now. They'll be able to offer you advice & also be able to speak to your store directly.
Good luck. I really hope you manage to resolve the situation today one way or another.0 -

Errr, yes, I agree, it has nothing to do with the OP & not their fault, but you say if paid on a card it should have been refunded to the card. That is also true, but it seems the Co-op bank wouldn't accept the refund.0 -

they put card in machine and said it would not go through i assmumed it was something to do with bank but it may have bveen the checkout supervisor or checkout manager who dealt with us was not authorised to refund that much. now still waiting for them to get back to us.
display model was not for sale as far as i know just had label underneath.0 -

Then they should have offered an alternative refund, It is still not the OPs fault.
OP I did ask and someone else subsequently asked are you sure the TV was identical as you posted that you "assumed" they were0 -

they were both samsungs but as mentioned ours was a different model or barcode etc this was not evident until he took it down as there was an out of stock label over this bit only samsung 32" descirpt etc was visible.
think ours was say a 350 and that was 400 model fo example. assumed was same as under our telly.0 -

There is something clearly wrong. Usually they don't have to wait until they physically receive the funds in order to be able to refund, but the OP also says..morledge142 wrote: »we rang our bbank direct and they said money still sitting in our account so tesco unable to refund us but we have had to walk out of store with no telly and no technical refund because tescos could not do a refund until they had received money, so we have to go in tomorrow to complete transaction.
After a transaction the normal situation is the amount immediately comes off the available funds but the OP said the money was still in their account. Maybe there was a problem with the original transaction & it didn't register? Maybe a stop was put on the funds when Tesco tried to refund? In this case Tesco would never get the funds anyway so if they refunded further they would be out of pocket.
By the way, I don't think it would be a problem with the amount. Even if it was above the limit for a SA to authorize, a Team Leader or Manager would be able to do it.
I really don't know what happened any more than you do. The best we can do is offer advice & hope the situation is resolved asap instead of jumping on a bandwagon & apportionning blame.
In this case, I suggest the best route is through Tesco's Head Office.0
