help - telly mispriced no refund or telly .......
just got back from tescos after spending an hour at customer services.
we saw a telly on display with a small yellow label attached to shelf underneath saying £299 reduced from £379, £329.
it was a samsung telly so went to get one off main shelf at end of an isle with a large £80 off hanging overhead. did have label at £379. we assumed it was same one because of £80 off hanging overhead.
went through till and was charged £379 so went to customer services to telly them the display model had wrongly labeled at £299. they refused to honour first by customer service, then by checkout supervisor. they tried to refund but coop bank would not do it.
after standing there for about an hour (we did not mention any double the difference due to error with refunding anyways(
we rang our bbank direct and they said money still sitting in our account so tesco unable to refund us but we have had to walk out of store with no telly and no technical refund because tescos could not do a refund until they had received money, so we have to go in tomorrow to complete transaction.
what should we do i feel abit weird having a receipt for a tely for £379 and going in tomorrow saying please cs person give me a refund for a telly you did not give me and if it doesn;t work then keep going in until they can complete the tgransaction.
i was hopeing to get a telly or double difference or something but we will end up with no telly, a refund when they can get round to it and we hvae had to stands at cs for an hour to then not be able to go out and get a telly somewhere if we find one as can't use bank now as monehy ios lost in tescos banking system as they can't do refund until they have officially receive it?
should we complain to head office because of their stupid bnanking systgem - we have no physical cash now to get a telly if we want to has it is stuck in black hole ?
thanks to you experts out there.

contact head office ont he freephone tomorrow before you go in, explain over charge
inconvienience of double trip etc DTD should be approved to the store
good luck0 -
What a palava!
When I have been overcharged, they simply have given me dtd after asking for the card that I have paid with.
Did they give you a note explaining that you, the customer have retained the receipt but are awaiting a refund and that the TV has not left the store with the customer?
You really do need some kind of security.
If you have not been given some proof that you have not retained the tv, I would ring up the store today and ask for them to write a note explaining the situation. You may then collect the note in person whilst the same staff are there
You will certainly need some evidence to present to the CS staff tomorrow who will have no knowledge of this incident.
Please let us know how you go on.

thanks for quick response feel like something that was a treat turning into a money fiasco so we cant look around for an alternative now.
tescos admin is disgusting they cant give refunds and it feels weird leaving a store without an item or the money refunded.
as we were stood ( or lean on counter inmy case i have a bad back/wrists so wear supports and stick) there policy was listed behind the counter in small print along with other refund policy and saidd " ife we make a mistake we will double difference for inconvenience"
and all staff said sorry for inconvenicne but it was a mistake and lable should not have been under that telly. so was clearly their error in first place nevermind disaster of trying to get a refund as would not give cash either.:(0 -
jumblejack
i asked them to sign on receipt telly was retained as that was my worry too.
thanks again.0 -
Something doesn't seem right here, if you pay by card then they would refund on to that card - yes it can take a day or so to go back on to your card but that is the same everywhere.
Did you refuse to let them refund on to your card? No retailer will refund cash if you have paid by card.0 -

no wanted a refund on card as when this happened before i went overdrawn as i didn;t get round to putting back in back.
it was tescos computers that could not refund as had not received cash yet. think it may be as is a coop cash acocount not a credit card so money not physically moved yet but sitting in banking black hole so tescos could not refund yet it kept declining on card machine "not able to process".0 -
how very strange where i work wether the payment has been made by debit card or credit card if a refund needs to be made we can do it straight away. soon as the reciept has printed out then that money is with tescos, although it takes sometime to show on their system they have still claimed the money, if that was me i would not of left that shop until i had a refund they would of had to carry me out of there haha. hope you get it sorted and dont take any messing. also i would kick up a fuss and tell them you want some kind of compensation for your troubles.0

Surely that shouldn't make a difference. Tesco's computer wouldn't be able to specify your actual money, if they try and do a refund it should work regardless of when it was paid. Obviously they would have no reason to, but technically speaking they would be able to issue a refund to a customers card who had never even stepped foot in a Tesco before and spent any money.
My other half has had trouble getting a refund onto his card several times in Tesco, don't know why, and no problems anywhere else. Once they let us put it back onto my card instead, and a couple of times as it was small amounts they just asked him if it would be ok to just give him the cash instead.
However much of a palarva it may seem, that's even more reason to demand double the difference back. It's their policy, and it sounds like you really deserve it!Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700 -
I have bought with my coop card from mr t's then been refunded more than I had paid on some DTD's...but in each case it was processed straight away.Bit of a Florida Fan :j

If a reciet printed then, as far as you are concerned, they have taken your money (altough it might take a little while to get to them, but thats nothing to do with you).
I work in retail and we have sometimes had trouble doing refunds on certain cards, all Tesco have to do to process it would be to phone you card issuer, they will prob ask some security questions and then authorise the transaction, will usually take a few mins then it can be put through fine.
If I have this prob and dont have time to phone up then I ask the customer for proof of identity and another card and refund on that.
I think the CS people you spoke to were just feeding you BS, I hope you get it sorted quickly and remember to write a letter to head office.0
