We are all sitting in the living room and watching one of the dvds that DD got for Christmas.

Had a meal in three stages and it was much less stressful than usual. Everyone cleared all their plates and enjoyed it.

Presents were all appreciated and I got about five books by my favourite authors and bath and shower goodies.

DD dyed my hair for me and cut it for me last night so I am now a lightish blonde.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

A really mixed Christmas this year,
Work's Secret Santa worked out really well; I gave "A nice Cup Of Tea And A Sit Down" with a packet of luxury choc biscuits & a pkt of mixed biccies. I was given Green and Black's selection and a pen. (Much better than the year the caretaker got me a book on warships..... She knew I liked the home front, so .... obvious really (?)):rotfl:

As soon as we broke up on Friday I got mouth ulcers, which by Saturday had silenced me and stopped me from eating. By Saturday evening I'd got a raging sore throat. So that was a bit pooh.

Son & Daughter turned up & son requested a lift into town on Sunday. Daughter & I killed time in Asda, and found the Organic Free range Turkeys reduced from £27.88 To £13.00, got one of those, and shelved the defrosting chicken.

By Sunday night I had a raging temp. so listed all of the tasks and left DH, DD, & DS to it. They did everything. Unfortunately I woke up at 4:00 a.m. in a state of delirium having had a dream/plan that the turkey would be much better off in the ash pan from the fire than the smallish roasting tin we owned. So, still raving, I washed the ashpan, transferred the turkey, put it in the oven and started it.
Result Turkey completely ready when I woke up at 8:30 a.m. feeling a bit suspicious about my "dream".
Went down into a kitchen full of the delicious smells one associates with the lunchtimish part of Christmas day. Sadly I'd put the stuffing balls in the oven at the same time, so they were black bullets.
Anyway, the throat was a bit better, and the ulcers well adcortylled, so I was able to make dinner, and re heat the turkey for 1:00, and a good time was had by all.

    :snow_grin

D.S. on his way soon, so I'll go now.

I feel like crying my dinner was so bad. I will never attempt Xmas dinner again. The beef is/was nowhere near done, despite following Delia's instructions to the letter, the veg was ok - but a bit "mushy" as it had waited around to see what the beef was doing, and my yorkshires (usually perfect) went from undercooked dough to black charcoal in the space of about 20 seconds

So despite OH being really really nice about it all, I'm sat here in tears, trying to figure out which of the parents will be the lesser of two evils to spend Xmas with next year :(

Hope everyone else has a better success rating than me!!!!

Happy Birthday Grannybroon and Edinburglass

    Merry Christmas all !!! :xmassign:

We've had a great day. Got up 9:30am... had a cup of tea and opened presents (well spoilt :D)

Phoned the world (Mum and Dad, Granddad, middle sister BIL and niece in South Africa), big sister, BIL and nephew in Holland, then OH's Mum in Runcorn.

Had dinner at 3pm honey roast gammon, stuffing, roast potatoes (my first time done real ones in goose fat - yummy!), maple syrup roast carrots and parsnips, roast onion and leeks, pigs in blankets, gravy. And that was just for 2 of us!!! I ma not planning on cooking for a while... :D

Just had Christmas pudding with boozy caramel custard - both a great success.

    Now watching TV and chilling

I hope you all have as great a day as we have

Had a lovely Christmas dinner of Roast Beef, yorkshire puddings, brussels with chestnuts, roasters, baby potatoes, gravy, baby carrots etc and a small glass of wine. Not really a drinker. Had just enough, skipped pudding just now, don't want to have too much. Enough food in the fridge to feed a small army, cupboards are fit to explode with stuff.

The kids got a boat load of pressies, going to need a bigger house. I got a nice shoulder bag, a couple of nice blouses and a pair of good boots.

Kids are going to their aunt's tomorrow so I'll have a bit of time to myself to read Martin's new book.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Ours was just quiet, myself and the kids, folks are full of the flu so didn't visit.

Enjoy what's left of your Christmas Day everyone. :-)

    First of all:

Happy Birthday Edilass and Grannybroon :bdaycake:

Hope everyone had a great day, as I have! :j Not too busy so I had a nice rest with some good wine and food

Presents opened and admired, now I'm just relaxing and taking the rest of the day as it comes. Tomorrow evening out at friends for dinner, so I'll stay lean tonight and tommorow a lunch time: lots of vegs and fruit and little else, there's a good girl.

Now, here's planning for New Year's Eve...:)
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
