  • Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates the occasion. Also Happy Birthday to anyone who has one today :bdaycake:

My thoughts today are with those MSE’r who have lost someone this year. It is 17 years now since my father passed prematurely at the age of 58 and Christmas was never quite the same again. However I am lucky to have my mother and a loving partner here with me today so I count my blessings.

We are having a quiet day, just the three of us. Partner and I had a lovely walk earlier on and now the lunch (roast leg of lamb) is underway. We have spoken to my partner’s mum and we have also had a brief chat with our South African clan.

Hope everyone has a good day

Happy Birthday to Edinburghlass and Grannybroon

DD (10) woke me up at 4.00 but I was able to get her to jump into bed with me and she fell asleep for another three hours. Both DS and DD were delighted with everything they were given. They surprised me by giving me a beautiful terramundi so I now have my own mortgage "pig" IFYSWIM. Haven't decided what wish to put in the pot yet though so the saving will be postponed until I do.

Even though my children are older (14 and 10) its amazing how much mess is still generated when opening presents. A trip to the dump will be the order of the day on Wednesday.

Wishing everyone a lovely day, whatever they are doing. XXX

  • Merry Christmas all :D

DS (8yo) woke at 5.30am and as DH and I were both awake anyway because we'd had a really bad night's sleep - hiim with arthritis pain and me with restless legs, we decided to just make a cuppa and get on with it! So, having unwrapped the contents of his Santa's sack (the reindeer food worked then - lured them down out of the sky!) he sat on the floor and examined everything while we went back to sleep! :T

7.30 am I'm awake again and we came down to a brekkie of Pain au Chocolat with fresh coffee (hot choc for DS), then into the bath and get dressed.

After that it was into the big mound of pressies in the sitting room, under the tree. :D DS is slowly working his way through everything, having a play with it all. He loves the personal CD player and headphones that my vouchers bought him - and if anyone EVER tells him that we can hear him singing along and its hysterical, I'll be very upset. :rotfl: Hearing him singing Shakira has been the best bit of today, so far. :D

We've just had a buffet lunch of cheese, ham, pickles and crackers and are going to get into the proper dinner of pork, chicken and all the roasties and etceteras later on, hopefully to be finished in time for 7pm and Doctor Who!

Hope you are all having as lovely a day as we are.
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

    Merry Christmas To All OSers

Had a really nice day so far. OH and I got up at around 10, and had a lovely big breakfast of bacon sarnies, pain au chocolat, muffins, danish pastries and fresh juice and fresh coffee :) Just in the process of making Xmas dinner now - beef will go in in about 10mins, and i have a timetable written out for when the rest of the stuff should go in!!!

I must have been a good girl this year because I got some lovely presents - Martin's book, a hairdryer (mine conked out last month), and lots of smellies and bath goodies from Lush and from Boots' Soap and Glory range :drools: Also got lots of alky-hool and choccys :D

This is the first Xmas in a few years where it hasn't snowed - usually spend the day at my parents in the Peak District and it has been a white Xmas every year there since 2000  No sign of snow in Sheffield yet though!! Have had many appreciative phone calls about the hampers I made for everyone - my sisters loved their pamper hamper and winter warmer baskets, and my mum loved her food basket - and was very impressed that I'd made the chutneys and managed to get the honey and sweets back from our holiday in Spain without her noticing :rotfl:

Anyway, birthday wishes to Granny and EdinburghLass

Thinking of those for whom Xmas isn't such a happy time.

    Love, Roz xxx

EDITED TO ADD: Just heard that James Brown died this morning :( such a legend...

Thank you everyone for your birthday greetings. Edinburghlass - we share the day hope you have as good as mine!.

Went to DD and SIL early this morning. DD phoned me at 8.00 am just to make sure she wished me happy birthday. DGs so pleased with pressies! DG1 let the cat out of the bag when over before cake brought out - they had bought me a birthday cake and he helped me blow out the candles. 56 is a bit much? My mum actually remembered to phone as did my sister. Have yet to hear from my brother in Florida.

On final preps for dinner - chicken out, tatties on!

Have a wonderful day - you are great friends indeed.
