Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons Askdirect have just put their prices up by £100 to £899 for the ped and £999 for the cab version. Seems weird when Ask must be getting towards the end of their stocks. I too have been trying since Jan 1st to get a price match first off with Norwich who kept me waiting for a week only for me to phone them to say they were not excepting anymore orders, by that time everyone else had sold out. Still waiting on another 2 to get back to me but now with what Ask have done to their prices I dont think I've a hope in hell. Never mind look at the positives I'm a £1000 better off and I dont need to feed the purple snakes :j
  • Anyone looking for the Ped version, they might be available from Richer Sounds:

Just had mine delivered by JL (£879) with ped, and watched Charlie Stubbs brutally murdered for no reason at all. Also must say that the lads who delivered it were really nice. All in all a very good tv and experience.

Good luck for anyone else trying to get one of these. The funny thing is when you buy from JL you get the 5 yr gaurentee, in the packaging Panasonic are quoting £549 for an extra 4yrs on top of the 1yr gauarentee. Its a no thinker where to buy it from.

As Ask have put it up now you might aswell either buy it direct from JL for £919 to get it. Or price match with Currys.

Except that's silly extended warranty pricing - you try to get JLP to take £500 off for waiving the guarantee!
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • I realise that the JL free 5 years insurance is obviously the best deal if you can get it but if you bought fron DSG like I did, try Domestic and General insurers direct (domgen.com) their prices work out quite a bit cheaper than Panasonic's own and they are the same insurers that Panny use (at least thats what Panasonic said on the leaflet I got with my t.v.)
You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...

Totally agree about warranty prices, thats why I can't understand why anyone would want to buy from anywhere else. By the way only put it up last night so not had chance to play with its functions and picture, so can't really give an honest opinion of it. Will wait for mate to come round and see what goodies in the lead department he has, but he is away at the momment.

How would Richer sounds price match this has they only offer a 1 year gaurentee?

    Because it's cheaper.

Richer's 5 year warranty for LCDs is 10% of the purchase price, which doesn't seem too bad. They have a very good reputation for not messing people about as well.

£900 for a telly tho' - too much for me I'm afraid;)
