Thanks for the tip Longman. I've placed an order, after much deliberation... Will keep you guys posted if all goes well.0

It would be very unusual for the fault to appear over time. I think people are either starting to notice it as they get used to the picture, or they are being sensitised to it having read about it on AV Forums. But not having seen it myself, I can only guess.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I agree , its probably been there in some form or another & people are now noticing it instead of dismissing it as a trait with plasma technology .0

av forums seems the only place where there have been problems reported
i think the issue is very small or people would of said somethink ages ago as the tv has been out for 10mths now.
surly if there is a fault if u buy one u can get a refund or replacement.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D0 -
I am one of the posters on AV Forums who bought this set and have experienced the purple snakes. I sent mine back because of the purple artefacts but the replacement was just the same. I think the vast majority of sets are affected but whether a casual viewer would notice if they didn't know about it is another thing. I know about it and can occasionally see them in normal viewing (they were in the Doctor Who Confidential today). The problem is that if this sort of thing worries you (and it can be annoying) we don't really know where Panasonic stand on this feature. Panasonic certainly know about it and are appraently investigating... If it wasn't for the snakes this is probably the best TV for this sort of money. Even with this issue it is still a very good buy.0

Did this problem appear immediately? Or did it appear over time?
cheersBefore you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.0 -
Well on mine it was there immediately. Some people report it after some months but I wonder if it was there from the start and they only just noticed it. Certain films show up the problem up well e.g. Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire, Panic Room, Matrix Revolutions. See AV Forums for examples of the 'feature'.0

IF you still want this TV (I did, and am v happy with it), then it is cheaper at here,

Better still, get John Lewis to PM it, (they do match ED as long as it is in stock) and you get their 5yr g'tee as well!
Purple Snakes .... 5yrs to worry about them .....One day I want to be the pigeon...... and not the statue!0
