  • do you think they are due me anything?

ie tax rebate or something i dont have a clue what they owe me or if they do
  • Could you give us a clue as to how much this training amount would be, if you DID have to pay it back?

My view is that if it is less than about £3000 it will not be worth their while pursuing it. If they ask you for it (and I doubt that they will, given the fact that you had worked for them for almost a year after the training) PM me and I will make some suggestions for what you should do next!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • This is all i had on training.

A week in the office going over asessments and also they paid for the hotel for the week etc.

week two only was for 3 days and the course only cost like £700 and then they put us up in a hotel for the 3 days.

Since then in feb i have not been on any other training courses with this company. and it also says in my contract the company pays for travel and accomadation if required to go on training courses

If you haven't been on any courses since Feb (ie before you signed the agreement to pay for training), then you are not liable to them for anything.

Do you have any holiday owing? If so, they will need to pay you that. Alternatively, if you have taken to much holiday, this is likely to be deducted from your last pay.

If you are due a tax rebate then this should work itself out in your next employment. However, I noted that you are looking at working for an umbrella company, so not sure how this would apply. If there are any queries, you can always write to your tax office at the end of the financial year, and if you are due anything back, they will sort it.

As to what they will do when they get your resignation, I really don't know. Some companies will just reply saying 'Thanks, goodbye', some may ask you to stay, some will be funny with you. Hopefully it will be one of the first two.

Whatever happens, let us know when you hear from them x

got a letter this morning from the company saying i have until the end of the month to pay back £1700 for my training.

there is nothing in my contracting stating i have to pay this back before i started the job only a letter stating it 6 months later that if i leave within my 1st yr i have to pay back my training and that was only after i had done it all.

there trying to claim hotel costs aswell.

Have you spoken to someone like ACAS about it to see what they say. It sounds very harsh to expect you to pay that amount back by the end of the month.

Have you started the new job now and how are you feeling about the whole thing (or how were you before this letter?!)
