There is a shop in Penrith high st which opened last weekend selling loads of outdoor clothing, 70 -90% off ticket price. I ignored it on Sat becaue it was so busy but today I had a browse, lots of the price tags are TJ Hughes. Stock changing daily, the man said he had 70,000 items to bring in and clear, so may be worth looking for TJ Hughes stuff in other places than the actual T J Hughes shops.
  • went today and the store was jam packed with customers !! i left with nothing as the prices seemed pretty high for a store to be closing down

Very interesting once you notice that NOWHERE in their stores does it say the word SALE. Closing down, everything must go etc etc but nowhere will you see the word SALE. Its because the trading laws state that for reductions to be classed as a sale stuff has to be reduced by..not sure 5 or 10%. They can't advertise it as a closing down sale as stuff isn't actually reduced to less than their normal prices.

Today, we have been in our store in Crawley and everything was 10% except some items (candles, picture in frames) that were 20% off. The discount was applied at the till. We asked 2 staff and they didn't know what would happened with the store but they looked sad, so I can assume they will close at some point but nobody knows.

I went into my local TJ Hughes today, there was less customers than usual and I never noticed anyone buying anything. There was only 10% off, the prices seemed high for a store that is closing down.

Just googling I found the following article: "realbusiness.co.uk/news/tj-hughes-debt-bought-by-liquidators" where it says that on July 12th the debt was bought so I don't understand why to sell all items if somebody will take over the business... unless they want to have a fresh start, even though I would keep the electronics which aren't cheap.... anyway somebody with more information/experience in administration ;) would en light me....
