  • AnW'sMum, Sending you loads of hugs, I hope you coped today as I know you will. Mandymoo, that's a lovely what you've written there, John was step dad to my oldest 3, they had 12 wonderful years with John and I know they loved him dearly. They don't see their (biological) father at all and John was, and always will be 'Dad' to them, as well as his own children.
I'm so glad we all spend so many happy years with John, we wouldn't have missed them for the world, not one second.
My Day wasn't too bad today in the end, I don't feel physically ill now, just the usual empty, which is quite normal for these days. I have a busy week ahead of me in work, lots of appraisals to do and the usual meetings, so this week will go quickly.
Yesterday and last night was so awful, I missed John so much I phisically and mentally ached, it was a very weird feeling and I couldn't get rid of it. Today it's back to acceptance and a 'get on with it' sort of day.
I think I'm rambling now, but I'd like to thank you all for giving me a 'chin up' yesterday, I needed it so much.
Aw'sMum, I hope your little boy's birthday went ok, it must have been so hard for you, you are very stong, wonderful, and gove me so much strength, thank you so much from my heart for that.

Loads of love and hugs to all,

    Stormy

Mandymoo (and everyone else as well) thanks for your thoughts and words you have no idea how much it all helps. I feel like I have hijacked Stormy's thread recently but it feels like it has become a place where anyone can contribute.

Like you say it is hard to lose anyone no matter what the circumstances. I think it's great that you have somewhere to go to visit your Dad and remember the good times. I think those that have 'prior' warning of someone's passing have it just as tough, trying to make the most of the time left but always watching the time just slipping away, I can't imagine what that must be like.

I love the thing about donkey :) It's those thougts we all have to hang on to. Ian's fave aftershave is fahrenheit.

Better go and wrap DS's presents for tomorrow (bought them awhile ago just not wrapped yet!)

Hugs to everyone and thanks for your support.

    xx

Hi Stormy, glad you had a better day what a rollercoaster we are all on eh.

Think there are quite a few ramblers on here today, me being one of the biggest! But it's nice to be able to ramble. Sounds like a busy week you got lined up, my friend and work colleague came round tonight with a pressie for DS and we had a good chat. Discussed my return to work and how we will all cope with it. I feel nervous but also looking forward to it.

I am due a smear test as well Stormy (saw it flash up on the GP's screen last time I was there) but I think they are letting me off for a bit!

Hello everyone hope everyone is ok. A lovely Happy Birthday wish to your ds AnW'sMum :bdaycake: crikey that's a big cake we will all have to have a slice:p . Hope you get through the day ok AnWsMum but dont worry it's completely natural to shed a few tears .
Although its been over 5 years since my mum died I still have day's where I cry for her, it's funny dd is 18months old now and since having her I miss my mum in a different way I miss her for my dd so much, she would have been an amazing granny. At xmas santa brought my dd a pressie of pj's from her granny. Although she will never know her I thought it would be a nice way to make her more real to my dd. Hope that makes sense.

What a lovely thought Violetta, I am sure granny's present was just right!
I just wondered if anyone could help out with any thoughts on the following:
I lost my Dad last year but he had been in hospital for some time before that and missed Mum's birthday. I bought her some flowers 'from him' and explained to her that although he couldn't chose them I had done so in his stead. Mum is housebound and was unable to visit him in hospital, he was losing his memory and couldn't relate to things like her birthday.
Now he's gone and Mum's birthday is coming up again and I'm wondering whether to do something similar, but I don't know. It would be nice for her to get through this anniversary without 'this is the first time in nearly fifty years I didn't get a present from him' but then it might be something I have to remember every year, and to be honest I struggle to sort out presents anyway and there isn't a lot of cash. Also Mum can't hear well so it's hard to explain. I thought of sending a rose bush by post then I could put a note in! (She lives at a distance).
    Thoughts welcomed! Thanks.

Thank's miggy, was surprised how difficult writing the card (to my beautiful granddaughter) was had a proper big cry.
I think the rosebush sounds like a great idea, then she would always have it, not sure where but I'm sure you can get beautiful ones with amazing names that could mean something special to your mum.
