Hello all, I've had just read this thread from the start and to Stormy, Annie & everyone else who has lost a loved one - a big hug from me.

I lost my nan a year ago almost to the day - she had lived with me and my parents for the last 10 years or so and although I have left home and come back a few times (last time being Dec 05 when I bought my own place) I still imagine her to be at my parents when I go round. Altho my mum has done the bulk of the practicalities in organising her estate, I've helped out where I could which definitely helped me (and my parents) to cope.

I don't think I can say much more than everyone else has on here!

    Lots of love and hugs

  • Hello everyone, thank you for all the good wishes and hugs......could do with one at the moment....as usual.
Well the visit from my boss was fine, he was understanding and practical, to have someone visit who is not too emotional did me good I think. I used the matching mugs to make him a cuppa and have decided to go back to work next Monday......gulp! I feel I really need to now that my children have gone back to school and work. I find myself feeling so empty and alone, I may as well be in work feeling like this, as at least I will be able to think of other things instead, I have to concentrate in my work, so I will get some respite. I have enough time to brood in the evenings, then I can concentrate on my memories and the way forward.
My boss offered me term time working, which was good of him, but loosing John means I can't afford the drop in wages now. DD£ will be in high school in September, so things should get a little easier with babysitters etc.
Quite a few of you have suggested I should take up the offers of help and I realise that I should stop being so proud and capable (not!!), and ask for help. I hate doing this, but realise that most people really do want to help.

I was very practical when I spoke to my boss, but was quite emotional when he left, so I went out and bought myself a new dressing gown!! I'm not really sure why, but I felt better. I also went into the boot of hubbys car and took out his tools, just in case the car was broken into. This made me very sad as he was a joiner and his tools were very precious to him, his life apart from us. Anyway, they are safe and sound now in the loft.
Tomorrow I'm going for lunch with my work colleagues, so I'll get the first meeting out of the way before I go back to work.

Thank you all once again for all your support,

    Stormy

Hi, I haven't commented on this thread before, really because I haven't know what to say. But I think you've been very strong and supportive of your family during this terrible time.

Don't just stick them up in the loft and forget about them. Bring them down. Clean then. *Lightly* oil them and store them properly. Good tools will last for years. They will make a fitting gift for your children.

Work tools are so personal... I have some that were my Dad's. John would, I'm sure, be delighted you have brought them in for safe keeping.
That was good of your boss, I hope the time with colleagues goes okay tomorrow. It will certainly ease the transition back to work and I think yo are right, being at work will fill the time better (as well as earning money).
I hope you get some sleep again tonight.
    {hugs}

Hey Stormy, still just checking in on you every day. Just to see how your doing.
My children buried their Grandad on Monday, when we were in the Cemetary I said to him, 'it's not goodbye you know, it's see you later'.
    That's how I feel anyway.
Much love to you and yours, sleep well. XX

  • Hi Stormy - I've just read this through from start to finish with tears streaming down my face - can I add my thoughts to everyone elses so far. You seem to be doing so well - I bet your colleagues are worried about meeting you tomorrow in case they say the wrong thing! I feel that no-one can say anything at a time like this that can possibly make you feel worse than you already do. I hope your lunch with them goes well. You seem to be doing really well, one day at a time. The people on this site are just so lovely and supportive. More hugs for you and take care xx :grouphug:
