Groupon - CityLiving furniture delivery

Hi all,

Had a look around Google and MSE but can't find anything to answer my query...

Purchased a Groupon voucher and paid delivery for the Torpedo furniture set from CityLiving.biz. Seemed like a good offer and a reasonable delivery time of 3 weeks, all processed by 28th May.

I've phoned them a few times recently, I've been advised there's a delay in the shipping due to adverse weather conditions. A little strange as that's what I was told a week ago. I've been advised an update will be out to all buyers within a week or two with a status update. This seems to be quite a delay, considering they first estimated 3 week delivery times.

Their phone number and business address matches up with Balmer Media in Yorkshire, who seem to be a sizeable company and when I (eventually) get through they can track my order, confirming what was ordered and when.

Does this sound dubious? Anyone else with the same problems?

Been a subscriber to the newsletter and checked the forum for advice many times previously - good work and keep it up.

I am having the same problem but I bought mine in June so if they are having problems with yours then mine is going to be seriously delayed

groupon got in touch to say there was a tracking problem and that they would get back to me the following week, that was over two weeks ago and despite several emails to groupon, they have not responded

I will contact trading standards if they dont get in touch with me soon as I want my money back
  • We have paid for the same Torpedo set but have not had it delivered. When we call we are told it is due to bad weather at sea!

When asked, they always promise next week. It has now been almost 2 months. As we paid on credit card are we protected?

Has anyone got their money back?

Groupon were there ones who contact me about it - have they not contacted you at all?

call groupon and ask them what the hell is going on - I have also tweeted the CEO, not sure if he will get back to me though

TBH I want the item as it is such a good deal but it has !!!!ed me right off that I wont have them for this summer

you can get your money back and do insist on money not groupon vouchers
  • We redeemed our voucher on May 31st. I called City Living at the end of June and was told the estimated delivery time was going to be 6 weeks (instead of the promised 3). Today, I have received an email with the tracking details. My new estimated delivery is November 11th! I can't believe it! That's nearly 6 months! I have written a very harsh complaint to Groupon and am awaiting a reply.

I would cancel this order and demand my money back, but I really want this furniture. However, I am a bit worried I will never get it.

Groupon have a facebook site- well they do for my city anyway, i know when i have had a problem i have wrote to them on there- they are really quick at answering on there and i got a refund straight away on something. might be worth looking to see if you can get a quick reply and solution.
  • Groupon are offering full refunds for this. Earlier today I found out my furniture is due 11/11/11, so I wrote a complaint that I'll have missed 6 months interest on the money already taken from my account - I'll see what their reply is. I wrote to city living furniture a few weeks ago to ask when I should expect my furniture - this is their reply:

The Torpedo furniture was given a 6-8 week delivery time however we have had trouble with delivery and are awaiting a date for the ship to dock from China. Once we have the date we will email you and you should have your furniture within 2 weeks of that date.

    Sorry for any inconvenience
    Thank You

    Balmer Media"

I wrote back stating the 3 weeks advertised delivery time, but got no reply...

I have received an update from Groupon:

“Garden Furniture Package for £299 from City Living Furniture (£1078 Value)” – order tracking system details.

We have important information for those of you yet to receive your City Living Furniture orders. Although new batches are being distributed every week, unfortunately there have been some delays in the production and subsequent delivery of your garden furniture. We’d like to apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Following on from our previous email update, we have worked with City Living Furniture to create a tracking system which will provide you with information on the status of your order including estimated delivery dates.

To check your order, simply go to: www. city living. biz/redeemnow. You’ll be asked to enter your full name, email ID (the email address you used to register for Groupon) and your Groupon voucher code. Don’t forget you can find all these details at...

If you have any issues with this Groupon or you no longer wish to redeem your voucher, please do get in touch by emailing your concerns to:

I've checked my order, which states a delivery date of "null." Quite worrying it's lost somewhere in the system!

Also, I'm unsure if anyone else is aware that if you now place the order, you can state whether you want cushions or not. I presume this is extra for any existing orders and these won't be included. Wonder if they supply the cushions for free if it will offset the loss of interest...

Think I'll give it a couple more weeks to see if it will reappear with a correct date. It looks like lovely furniture, but by this rate it will miss next summer, not just this one.

    Hey all!

I ordered this furniture when it was first available on Groupon in May, with an expected delivlery date of 4-6 weeks. After 5 weeks we had not heard anything and therefore phoned them up. Only to get a snotty answer that Rome wasnt built in a day and we should have it in the next week. I was gobsmacked that you purchase an item for £300 and get that response. Only then to not reveice a phone call or email and so I phoned them again.

The order had still not arrived and then they stated that there were delays and you will get in in two weeks because there has been difficulty in sea however this is worth the wait. We still havent heard anything another 3 weeks later after not hearing anything and they said it will definitely be here the 1st week in August and there is a tracking device coming available online. However that now states that it is 11/11/11 before we get the furniture.

City living have not been honest with their customers and have made alot of their customers unhappy. WHY DID THEY SELL SO MANY IF THEY COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH DEMAND? I also recommended this furniture and it has been a joke. I would just liked to know what the real estimated time is for this delivery and whether anything can be done to prevent this happening in the future! ARGH!!!

I ordered mine on 23rd may and am also shown a delivery date of NULL. What is the point of this when groupon email us saying that this system has been put in place to keep us informed ? Can anybody confirm that they have had delivery and what the furniture is like ?
