Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Sooooo, as they say, the best laid plans have gone slightly astray. I managed to get a 5 minute conversation in with Mr.B last night before he fell asleep ( i get worried i have this affect on him at times, well not really but there you go:rotfl:)

He has decided to keep the wages paid into bank and transfer the money over himself to the new account, but only enough to cover DD payments and his travel and entertainment expenses. The rest will be left in the main account and once the overdraft is gone then we will close that one. I realize that they can recall the OD at any time, if they do .....well i will face that one as and when.

In the meantime i have re looked at budgets and have a plan to cut more out of expenditure and sort out properly a few things that have been niggling me. I read a lot around the forums and think we need to do several things:

    1. Build up at least 6 months salary ( currently i build 3 months) but that sees me through the summer months and September until next wage.

    2. Go back to working on a full time contract if i can get one- been a bit reluctant to do this given circumstances with DD2. I have a good contract which means at the moment to work around her and provide her with the care she needs..i have to let go and stand back a bit more. I also want to be paid fully over my hols...So this is one of my focuses.

    3. Meal plan and grow more, i thoroughly enjoy cooking and planning and tend to do it on a weekly basis. It makes more sense to do this monthly, so will be doing that from now on.

    4. Keep on snowballing debts- i can't over emphasize how useful that is. It is very motivating and although i don't always stick strictly to it, i get a kick out of updating it. I did see a swing with cards paid off and new 0%deals, but at least i can see what is what.

    5. Keep doing Martin's budget planner, so far we have been lucky enough to be in the green but i dread the day we aren't.

    6. learn to celebrate properly when something is gone for good. The joint loan was a significant amount paid off so i should have been happier..We received the paperwork today saying account closed- so £15000 of debt gone:j:beer: I wish it had never been taken out but needs must at the time :(

Right that will do for now. Just some back to basic stuff .:D

You should come and work with me. We have loads of muppets...

Just thought I would pop my head in and say hello. :)
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
