My Daughters cat who's 9 months old goes out to play then comes back in to use the litter tray. Only likes the hard litter stuff got her the papper sort a while ago has it was lighter to carry and we have not got a car put she would only wee in it the rest she did on the floor beside the tray

Sound familiar, I've got a 12 year old one that does the same thing, but that's the litter, we've always used the same stuff, it's just because she's a cantankerous old battle axe and she can. Also she doesn't actually go in the litter tray she balances on the corner with here bum hanging over the edge:cool:
  • Has anyone heard of or has used a Litter Locker?

They look really good, and if i can save time and money on scented poop bags each time i clean out my cats litter tray the better.
I have found the II on petplanet.co.uk for £14.99 and the refill is £4.99 (which lasts 1 cat 90 days apparently)

I was also wondering what the difference was between the Litter Locker I and Litter Locker II???

    Thanks.

I've got a litter locker II and to be honest it's pretty useless! It didn't lock in the smells so we tried putting an air freshener/odour neutraliser block in the bottom which didn't make much difference. Also found it quite fiddly to use. We only got it because it was free from pets at home when we bought some cat litter but once the refill ran out we didn't buy another one. We found it was quicker, easier and cheaper to buy nappy bags. Tescos value scented nappy bags are only 29p for 100 or 74p for 300, much cheaper than poop bags!
  • Ok thanks for that.
We dont have a tesco here :( ( i live in Guernsey)

I'll have a scout around for nappy bags. -
trying to do my bit for the environment too, so on the look out for bio-degradable ones

When I got my little girl kitty, I just used shredded newspaper. The usual, remove solids etc and I cleaned it out every couple of days. Never had any problems with nasty niffs! It didn't take her long to get used to her new home and she goes out in the garden now.

Not sure whether the shredded newspaper would be a good long term option though, we didn't have to use it for very long. Cost me practically nothing though!

We've used shredded waste paper for ages now - he actually seems to prefer it. We clean it out the tray completely every 1-2 days, no fishing around for solids to remove. We line it with several sheets of newspaper then add the shredded. This way emptying it is easy, just wrap it into the lining paper. Then we rinse out the tray, air dry and refill. No problems at all with smells!

It's free, and is environmentally friendly because no need for manufacturing the litter. And nobody is going to want to read documents that have been shredded and used as litter!

Where do you guys get your cat litter from and is it fairly cheap?

I normally buy Wilkos own brand the large bag that clumps up but I find it very heavy to carry after a few minutes and wondered if there was a better way to get it from, hopefully supermarket.

    Hi
I buy the Sainsburys Basics range cat litter, think its about £1.14 for a large bag 8litre. It does the job and my cats get on fine with it.

The only thing is its heavy with no proper carry handle and I tend to order a load with my monthly online shop so it gets delivered. Could you maybe do a online shop and stock up?

But cost wise its more effective for me - my cats are 20 and 17 now, and tend to use the tray much more (in fact my litter amount has doubled in the last couple of years) as they don't want to go out so much and older cats do get much fussier about their toilet habits I've found!

Use newspaper-its free, and no kitty lit dragged all around the house.
Works fine-put down 1/2 newspaper, tear up the other half into strips and put on top. Easy
