This weekend I picked up the usual bag of catsan and the price in Morrisons has gone up to £4.38

I was wondering what everyone else does where cat litter is concerned? I pay for the better brand as I feel it is cleaner somehow, and less smelly. Has anyone tried any decent cheap cat litter brands? Also how often does everyone clean theirs out? I scrape all the bits out twice a day and completely empty the litter and clean the tray once a week, meaning I am spending almost £20 a month just on litter!

Any tips for reducing the cost?

I tried lots of other brands and ended up with solid 'gifts' on the carpet so decided to stay with Catsan!

I use the wood pellets - at the moment Beauticat. I think it's around £4 a bag and you justget a nice pine smell as long as you remove solids twice a day.

I use clean paws clumping litter which I buy from petplanet.co.uk.

I got a 15l bag(so 3x the catsan) for £9. It's amazingly easy to clean out the dirty litter each day and I completely empty and wash the tray once every 2 weeks. The bag lasts about a month.

I've also bought, but not tried yet, cats best cat litter which got rave reviews on the petplanet site. It was £19 for 40l The bag is huge! It's also biodegradable.

I've tried the cheapy ones but can't stand all the dust and my black cat looks like he's been putting on make up after using it. Plus the dust from the tesco and asda cheap litters kept getting in his eyes and irritating them.

I use the Sainsbury's own brand ultra-clumping litter which is less than £4.00 for a bag. If, however, there was a cheaper ultra-clumping litter I would love to know about it.

I have 2 indoor kittens and have been using Yesterday's News litter. It costs about £8.00 per bag and so far I've been using just under one bag a month.

When we have had to get litter for our cats we just bought Tescos value litter. Can't remember cost but I think its under £2 a bag. I scooped solids 2-3 times aday and threw litter away and washed out tray every 2-3 days depending on how many wees were in it. I never put it very deep either, about 1 inch deep is plenty IMO.
