i can see what you mean, but like i said on post 5scheming_gypsy wrote: »did you look really closely? normally you need to do the opposite and look from a distance.
walk away from your monitor and you'll start to see it clearly. when looking through small mesh you don't get up close and squint, you have to look from a distance.0

Or like I said, you don't look at it but through it. Its no different then going to the zoo can you still see the animals behind the mesh. Try taking a picture if you focus on the mesh all you will see is the mesh, if you focus through the mesh then the mesh disappears!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

It is not possible to walk away from the windows because the seats are right next to the glass. Is nothing like a zoo, as on the bus you're looking through holes rather than thin wire mesh, it really is different. You can focus for a few seconds, but it soon hurts your eyes. You'll see what I mean if you are unfortunate enough to ride on one of these buses.
From a quick Google search is seems these adverts have been banned in some countries such as Norway and parts of America.
Some more dreadful examples (except the no smoking one!) : http://villageofjoy.com/odd-bus-ads/0

but if you sit at the seats on the opposite side of the bus and look across / diagonal then you're not looking right at the mesh. I 'think' that they're designed so you can see out without any problem from across the bus, so if you're sitting on the left you look out of the window to the right but not directly out of the window next to you.0

Its no different to looking through wire mesh you need to focus behind the mesh not in front of it. Scheming gypsy is correct that it will be far easier to see through it from further away but 1/2 metre or more is fine.
Instead of arguing the toss on here just write your letter of complaint to the bus company no one here can decide whether or not it will stay.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

You dont, but as I am a first bus shareholder, I dont have a problem with that
as a fellow first group employee with shares i too do not have a problem with it.
this has been happening for ages on all bus companies,i also remember some trains also getting the treatment,in particular 2 class 170's advertising the new bullring and the pink blobby express 170 advertising the birmingham european city of culture bid.0

At the end of the day the company has to make a profit to invest in new buses, training etc etc. The easiest solution is to use the car or walk in the countryside and enjoy it that way!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Forget all this stuff about heat retention and focusing through holes, keeping down fares or investing in the fleet. The fact is the bus company is a commercial company, and clearly believes it can make more money from having wrap adverts than it will lose from upsetting certain customers. Most regular users - the bread and butter to the company - will be used to the view so unlikely to be that fussed if the odd bus has an advertising wrap. It is perfectly entitled to do so, of course you are also perfectly entitled to make your feelings known to the bus company.
The only occasions where there is an outside chance you might be able to exert pressure is if the bus route is subsidised by the local council - they could take the view the practice of wrapping the buses will damage tourism and lean on the bus company to knock it on the head. I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one though - certainly in Newport and Cardiff some of the buses run by the council owned companies have wraps.
I use buses every day and have never been that bothered by bus wraps - I'm not a big fan of them but don't really care. I'm more concerned with them being reasonably clean, reasonably on time and reasonably priced.0

Well i must be an anorak then because occasionally the wife and i get a day pass and travel on the buses, its allows voyeurism of peoples houses and gardens and the wrap would stop this
how can we have a drink in a wetherspoons too in a different town if we cant go on the bus.k?0

it wouldn't stop it as you can still see out of it... it just means they can't see you looking in0
