What if there were some small kids who wanted to look at the countryside during their journey?
Didn't anyone think of the children?0 -

The children OMG the children.....right thats it now I know the children can't see the sheep or the cows i'm going to make a stand. Tell me where this bus company is based and tonight I will infiltrate their compound and remove all these hideous adverts.

The adverts definitely made it difficult to see out and I am not exaggerating the problem. I am not in the habit of complaining about nothing, but I don't like sitting back and allowing things in life to get worse when it is possible to speak out.
The Hampshire Police one was amusing! It's ironic that the Police tell us to be vigilant then block out the windows.
I don't think the adverts would make the customers sick. In an emergency I am not sure if it would be more difficult to break the glass with these adverts on however.
Re. the suggestion I should have got off the bus, well, we had already paid £7 for the journey and there was little point in getting off in the middle of the countryside only to have to walk home or wait for another bus. I could tolerate it, but my point is a more general one about whether passengers should have to. We pay fares to use the service and have never had this before, so if our quality of service is suddenly reduced then I think we have a right to complain.
Re. the temperature of the bus, it was only 19C Saturday and the non-advert bus I took earlier was cool if anything. It isn't that often that the British weather is warm enough to make a countryside bus with its windows open too hot. I reject the argument about this being anything to do with heat, and I expect First will want to keep the adverts in the winter too.
The point was made about children, I agree it is a pity for them as all passengers. Also, what about for older people who are partially sighted? This can't help them either and they risk missing their stop.0 -
I never said it was for the purpose of reducing heat, its just a welcome side effect it will also retain heat so is another added bonus for in the winter too!!!. I'm sure you could complain if you felt it was that bad but the revenue they get from advertising is going to have to be paid by the users to cover the shortfall so don't be surprised if that £7 journey turns into a £14 journey!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

That's an argument for removing windows altogether, but there is a reason for having them and that is so passengers can enjoy the journey and see where to get off.
No other bus companies in the region (yet) use wrap advertising, just First. First's fares are no lower than the others, in fact they may be more expensive, so there isn't a basis for your argument about the fares. I think it is about making money for the shareholders.
Here is a company that sells these awful things: https://www.signals-vga.co.uk/bus-wrap-applicators0 -

Thanks for the link but as i'm in the industry i'm fully aware of what it is and the benefits aswell as the negatives of using contravision on windows. Like I have said its really not that difficult to see out of it as long as you don't actually look at it but rather through it.
As for your argument about removing windows altogether, now your just being silly it wouldn't be a bus then would it, it would be a lorry with seats!!
Check the companies financials and see if you have an argument about it just being money for the share holders.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

According to the First 2011 annual report they made an operating profit of £457.4M, 31% of which is from UK bus.0 -

well thats a tidy profit, atleast now you have some meat to your argument make a complaint and see what they come back with, atleast if they say its to do with struggling finances you have something to back it up.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
May I ask what you expected to see out of a [STRIKE]Torquay hotel bedroom[/STRIKE] bus window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically...?
With apologies to Basil Fawlty.
Perhaps you ought to ask the OP who posted this thread??0 -
