Thinking about your present buying - is there a TK Maxx you could haunt? Or Asos? Or designer outlets (maybe not... can be too many bargains, LOL).
I still think you need to do a bit of soul-searching and work out what's motivating you.
Why is it important to spend the same as other people? Do all your friends do that? And does it always get the perfect present? You're such a gift-giver, and that's a lovely thing to be, but what's behind it?
Some of the best presents I've ever had were the ones that showed someone really understood me... now that's a really hard act to follow.
Not necessarily a lot of money but just the right thing...
Oh dear, I'm getting philosophical. It must be time for bed.

I KNOW! This is something I must KICK!!! I think it's I don't want to look cheap, it's not enough that i know it would normally have been £6, it the fact that I know I got it for £4.50 therefore i feel cheap knowing I haven't spent the full £5. I also think that it is a case of guilt free spending (told you i have a spending addiction) like if its not on me then its okay...?!? I'm also maybe obsessed with not wanting to be seen in the same light as my cheap mates.

I think it's a pretty good gift for the girl, I know her pretty well and she uses a certain beauty brand so got her a wee product from there! The 60p was a wee chocolate tree to go with it!
That is SUCH a good idea re TK MAXX, I've actually got some time (her b.day is end of March) to go and have a look! She loves Frechn connection (as do I) and they have a sale started today up to 50% off!
I would normally go mental but i have just soo much stuff!!!! I have too much stuff keep chanting!!!) Had a peak and there are really nice earings down from £25 to £17.50! I think i'll wait until after christmas and see if they end up any cheaper! But even at £17.50 thats still pretty good! AND under budget :money:
Groupon! I had to actually stop going on it as i had bought so many deals that trying to use them up became a chore, not the joy of dining with the hubby that it should be. Then I had a few expire!!!! So had to cut myself off! But the OH was looking and forwarded me on one of the deals...
Todays deals was wine for 24.99, a crate of 6! :j Now the actual price for 12 is 64.99, but i had actually look at one of their offers before for 49.99. So not much of a saving but we all know i was wanting some vino! So bought it! Also a bit more realistic than 12 bottles of wine right now due to my finances...
Also we today bought online the OH's fathers other half of present! £18 bucks which makes us technically £3 over budget but you can't really bother with these things when it comes to the parents eh! Parents are not the same as friends/co-workers. Plus we saved on his mum. :money:
Soooo all that leaves left is my parents, the OH and a wee something extra for the bro! This makes me happy once all wrapped i will be stress free!
Not sure if I mentioned this before but also bought a wee extra diary/address book thing - £1. Been caught out before by someone telling me they got me a little pressie, so I ran out spent £20 bucks and they had got me a £1.50 notebook and a bag of haribo! Lesson learned! so thats a wee something incase i'm stung again last minute, no takers means i'll give to one of my sisters or my mum!
Me and all my mates this year (not the cheeky/cheap one) are super skint for varying reasons so weve all done a truce on presents. Won't be the same without exchanging any but its the smart thing to do for this year! Also after the crazy summer ive had will help calm things down (less shopping=less temptation)! This will also help me stop going over budget - obviously this is something i really need to crack miggy! I've defo been doing better this year...well 3/4 weeks...
Meeting some mates for...COFFEE on sat...you know what that means!
Nah only joking love these girls but told them i can't afford a dinner! So coffee and cake it is. Still need to get OH to bring back the coffee machine to our flat. Once i get better at baking i could make us our cake. He says until I bin some stuff he's not bringing anything else into the flat! :rotfl: 0 -
Would it help to think about it another way? Can you imagine all your mates thinking of you as the one who is always the most considerate in what she chooses? I bet you can do that - the right beauty brand and that little chocolate tree are the sort of thing that shows you pay attention to detail.I don't want to look cheap, it's not enough that i know it would normally have been £6, it the fact that I know I got it for £4.50 therefore i feel cheap knowing I haven't spent the full £5.
Now I'm not sure that's a wise thing to tell me! LOL Earrings sound great though.they have a sale started today up to 50% off!
I keep saving all their emails with city breaks, weekends in the Med and so on - I haven't bought a single one but they sound so tempting!Groupon!...
Brilliant idea! The more I read the more I'm convinced you are doing tons right. Apart from letting me know there's a T k Maxx sale, that is.Not sure if I mentioned this before but also bought a wee extra diary/address book thing - £1.
Well done to you and all the friends who've decided not to do mutual presents this year. That will save loads.Meeting some mates for...COFFEE on sat...you know what that means!

Haha - enjoy the coffee and cake and tell your OH he and my DH would get on very well indeed! Maybe it's a men thing - don't they understand all that stuff is there for a very good reason?... that's to say, because we put it there.

Like AA or NA thought i'd make a quick visit.
Happened to be on ASOS was ready in an instant to make a quick purchase. Thankfully i stayed on that wagon! Not gonna lie i was tempted, you know when you convince yourself that somehow you REALLY REALLY need it! BUT then thought about all the lovely clothes and shoes i have that i DON'T wear and that stopped me from any other purchases! :money:
Our food budget is gone, so the OH and I will need to be topping up again...not so good but again hopefully not on much. This month alot of it has went on silly non food things for Christmas so hopefully that won't be a problem next month.
Currently curled up on the couch cuddling my dog watching desperate scousewives on the iplayer after the OH cooked an amazing dinner and bought some red vino
AND he bought me some haribo for after to nibble with my wine ohhh bless! I really don't appreciate him enough! Only thing that could top a wee night off like this is if i was DEBT FREE and had some savings...or was in my dream house with the iplayer, dog, vino and haribo :rotfl:

Hey miggy!
Sorry must have too much wine last night never saw your post or my comp was playing up! Mmmm probably the wine!
Yeh i'm trying to plan the birthdays in advance these days! I think thats helping get a nice thoughtful present within budget!
Haha MEN! They just don't understand that without these things i'd need to buy MORE things! We are going to his parents tonight so will try and convince him to bring it back! Fingers crossed for me!
Right i'm going to go and catch on some other diaries not had much time this week! x0 -
Another Saturday night in! This seems to be the only way i can save cash! :money:
Bought some nephew crimbo presents! Budget was £10 (he's a baby) and spent £9 in ELC! Sale on so go the 2 presents i wanted to get for less than budget!
Got 20 xmas cards and some personal ones and money wallets for £5.15 in card shop! This is a new card shop thats SUPER cheap! I'll never go anywhere else again! :j
Again some good bargains i'm happy with! Officially only my bro and mum and dad that need to be purchased for!
I seem to get some sort of thrill out of saving money! This is hopefully my new thrills going forward instead of the thrills i get from spending money! x0 -
Shopping for my sisters bridesmaid shoes! Going to ask her if i can get silver shoes instead of the dress colour so i can wear them again! She's pretty cool i don't think she'll care, wearing a long dress so wouldn't even see them anyway!
Saw lovely Carvela ones, found them on sale on one site to £84! They are pretty funky so defo wear after BM duty! Hopefully they will go into sale in January and be even cheaper! Will get them then if they do and thats the shoes down and only jewellery and a bag left to get! x0 -
Amazingly well done for not buying anything from Asos! Perhaps you should set all those unworn things of yours out and play shop
- so you get the fun of something youv'e just 'bought'?! (I should do that with my food cupboards!)
We were discussing food budgeting over Christmas - thankfully we are in a position where we can add a bit on and we will, but Christmas food undoubtedly adds to the cost of living. Then we spend the next few months dieting! Maybe I should get lots of fruit instead of mince pies! Never mind, we'll all be back on track in January.

Yeh the shoes aren't on any cashback sites!
Just going to hold out for the sales, i'm certain they will end up cheaper! Finger crossed for me!
Been getting the clothes out to play dress up! Its amazing how much you use your clothes and accessories when you know your not buying anything else! I've been mixing and matching everything recently!
Got my new phone contract down to £24! YEEHAAA! :money:
I got my contract in and i had the maximum internet allowance on it! Phoned up and got that cut right down to the minimum! I won't be playing on my mobile when i've got a perfectly good laptop!
I used to always get the newest phone with the most minutes and internet and everything - "just incase". But whats the point? I have more than enough internet and messages/minutes to last me!
I don't think i've had a mobile contract this cheap since I've had an phone! :T
Was thinking at first well that only £7 difference and then i was thinking that £7 is actually alot each month!!!
Next step...contact lenses! Currently paying £22 a month for them. Again certain i can get them cheaper elsewhere! Thats my next hobby for the next few weeks! I think i also get an "emergency" amount so going to go in and collect them before i cancel anything! x0
