  • After a very quick glance...

Think i'm going to look into getting some monthly lenses. It's soooooooo much cheaper! A years supply is £150 cheaper than the CHEAPEST lenses supplier.

I used to buy everything out of convenience but now its time to square myself up! Might try out the monthlies whilst i've got a large supply of the dailies left incase i don't like them! I know they will take a while to get used to! x

Long haul plans make long haul differences. ;) (I made that up myself just now. :D:D:D)

£150 is a brilliant saving and besides you won't have to think about possibly running out of lenses.

I found dailies easier to use (apparently monthly ones are a bit thicker?) but it you are used to wearing lenses then you might not even notice and think how many [STRIKE]shoes[/STRIKE] I mean debt repayments that equals! :rotfl:

  • Yes miggy it will make such a difference! I'm looking at some of the prices and a 6 month supply of 2 weekly lenses is £29! I mean i'm paying that a month just now!

Between that and my phone contract thats a saving of about £50 a month! :T

Think i will go for 2 weeklys as a jump from dailys to monthlys might be too big a jump! Like you said i've heard they are thicker! Acuvue 2 u think are going to be my first try! :money:

Not buying tonight as I need to get my prescription so will try and get the emergencies asap and cancel my direct debit asap. Due for a delivery of a 3 month supply on 22nd of December so not sure what to do. Mmmm  Never had a contact lenses "contract" before so unsure how to go about things! :p

Forgot to say had my first xmas night out last night! £31 spent, gave myself a budget of £30 for it so i think i done alright! Managed to hitch a lift at the end of the night aswell so no taxi fees!

I'm the first to admit that i'm becoming mildly obsessed with this diary! :D This is good though i don't think i've ever had this before - I literally am using this diary to write my 8 years of debt frustration down! Been wanting to talk about this for so long and have never quite divulged so much in my previous diaries but i'm letting rip now! I feel it's helping and that i'm for once acting on all the money saving ideas I have! :money: I'm so motivated, i know this will pass to an extent but hopefully when it passes i'll be in a good routine with good habits!

Decided to write a wish list, its the things I want for xmas but want to use money to buy myself so I can source for as cheap as possible. :money:

I've asked everyone for money so hopefully I get enough (only the people who have asked what I want I'm not going around demanding presents!). My OH is giving me money for boots so that should be them covered I think it will cover the headtorch aswell. :money:

I'm also doing this as when I hit the shops (brothers final wee thing - DONE) I still find myself saying ohhh I really need black Dune ankle boots....ehhhh NO YOU DON'T!!! Infact that's the LAST thing I need! The list will keep me in check of the things I've actually really been wanting/needing.

    Wish list

[STRIKE]Shoes for sisters bridesmaid (currently £85 from £140)[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Headtorch (a. £33)[/STRIKE]
    Snowboard jacket (£60-£100)
    Walking boots (£99)
    [STRIKE]Walking waterproof trousers[/STRIKE] (a £63)
[STRIKE]Dressy French Connection Jacket (£180) - this is a want item not a need item. Plus I will never be paying full price for it. Been stalking a while now and still not reductions on it - upsetting![/STRIKE] Came to the realisation that i don't need this and although i want it i would not really wear it!

Hoping everything I want ends up in the sales! The prices above are the cheapest prices I can currently get them at! :(

Also spent some money today - £3.50 on a coffee and cake! Was cheering myself up, OH and I went to see a mortgage advisor and we've basically been told that we need 20% min for a deposit. So for a £150k flat we'd need £30k. A £200k flat/house we'd need £40k. Lets do the maths...

    £16k my share of deposit.
    £10k to clear my debt
    £25k to save.

That's not even including money for furnishing. Plus we were really wanting/needing a new car. My car is just about dead (getting rid of when insurance needs renewed (FEB) and the OH's car is not ideal!

    Dream List

    A new car
    A new flat

Ohh dear. And I spent £2.50...that's 0.01% of how much I need to save!

Ohh last thing found out about the contact lenses and I get 5 pairs emergency! Well thats the max amount so going to go in today/tomorrow and hopefully get them. Get a checkup on Sat (which is included in dd) and Get my next 3 month delivery on 22nd then I'm going to cancel! :A
  • So quick update!

One of my works xmas night I spent... ZERO... yes thats right. We got 6 free drink tokens plus my manager bought me and my mate a bottle of red wine and there was free buffet! RESULT

So due to said savings i bought myself breakfast and lunch today to help curb the hangover.

    Night budget out: £50
    Actual spend: £0
    Breakfast: £3.30
    Lunch: £4.45

Nice we food day and still saved! I am happy! x

£25k sounds a lot but have you seen how Memory Girl handled hers? She worked out different sources of income, i.e. managed to increase what was coming in, and she divided the money she needed into chunks - so £25K is 5x £5k or 25 x £1,000 or 50 x £500 or 250 x £100 or even 500 x £50. £50 doesn't seem such a huge target, does it?

(That's assuming my maths holds together - no guarantees there!)

By the way MG is now debt free so it can be done! :D

  • Just purchased some bedding :(

Was required as we were currently living off one duvet cover! Cost £31 :(

Nice set so decided better to pay that little bit extra and get one we really like! Oh will be getting billed for his half. I'm a tough cookie now! x

£31 well spent - think how many hours' use you will get out of it.

Set aside a few months to read MG's diaries. :D Worth a read though!

  • Next crimbo night:

    Budget £50
    Spend £5.15+£20+£10+£10 = £45.15

    So technically under budget! WHOOOHOOOO

I am happy with this! x
