Todays spend £20 on christmas decorations! This will be getting reimbursed via the monthly food budget! £250 in total we have. £30 total has been spent on decorations!
It's my mans and I's first christmas in the flat together and he has not one decoration!
A kind friend has donated a tree :xmastree: ,today I bought lights for the tree, lights to hang, a mini tree and lights for hallway, a tree topper and a pack of 50 deccies. Hopefully these will be getting added to by my sisters and family with their extra deccies! Plus I had one or two wee bits and bobs that have been gifts (a snowglobe, rudolf etc). :snow_laug:rudolf::xmassign:
£30 to fund my entire decorations - I personally think that's not too bad! :T x0 -
Also got wrapping paper and 100 sticker labels (from £1 shop) and have lots of x-mas cards from last 2 years that will be getting recycled - DONE!
NOW...just need to get ALL my presents for everyone... :rotfl:0 -
WELL incase you haven't noticed I've became slightly obsessed.
Spent this evening chopping fresh vegetables that were bought during the week for the freezer! 2kg of onions, turnip, peppers (LOTS) made up mixed bags, carrots (1kg). Only thing left is potatoes - can I freeze potatoes? This one's got me pickled!
It's weird I feel like I'm back in control! I feel like this entire summer with everything that's been going on - I just lost control. I watched the biggest loser USA and one of the contestant went back home and her room was a mess and the lady said - what's happening? AND SHE SAID that she just feels like she's lost control! THAT WAS ME! Except not with weight loss just in general, flats a bit of a mess, clothes not organised they way the usually are, not been making proper meals the way i used to, racked up debt again. I just lost control! :coffee:
Anyway I feel I'm back on track! Got the meal plan sorted, all the veg chopped and frozen (except potatoes). :money:
Soooo does anyone know of any recipes I can use that uses ALOT of potatoes? Was going to make cottage pie possible? Think that might involve buying mince though? Hmmmmm I'm off to raid the freezer....0 -
And there is mince! Cottage pie for dinner tomorrow night sorted! Will use some carrots, onions, frozen peas, mince from freezer, left over red wine, worcestershire sauce and out of date beef stock cubes
Don't think I'm missing anything?
Right off to bed!
P>S I've noticed that i wanted to be debt free by new year and not Dec 2012...surely everyone changes their date?

You are doing an amazing job!
Potatoes - I think you can freeze them as mash, and roast ones freeze and reheat well. Come to think of it, there are frozen chips, waffles, hash browns... just about anything potato-ey. Just give it a go! I think they would need to be chopped first, but I don't know if they can be frozen absolutely raw?Miggy

Thanks Miggy!
Your right!
Think I'll make a batch of mash potato with the remaining potatoes and get that in the freezer aswell! x0 -
Sending back a bag I got pre light bulb being switched back on.
Only get 14 days so I'll be cutting it fine. Got dispatched 18th! I get 14 days from dispatch date. Will go to post office at lunch so should be fine.
Also going to try and take back shoes I got last month. I've worn them but one of them hurts (like there is something in the arch) and it squeaks! Not had them long enough for it squeaking. :rotfl:
Need to find the receipt tonight. Will get the money put back on my CC. So hopefully that will be £75 off my credit card! Fingers crossed for me! :money:x0 -
Sooo took my boots back! Apparently they squeak cos something has moved/broke in the sole - who knew? Was deliberating taking them back but i have so many boots/shoes I'm really glad I did.

£55 bucks in my hand! Yipeeeee :T
Although....
Sooo I really wanted THESE:
http://www.tedbaker-london.com/store/womens/stud-detail-gloves-XG03-XA1W-WEED-00.html - £69 bucks!!
As I already have a lovely 3/4 sleeved jacket and really wanted lovely gloves to show off. WELL I already have a pair of plain black leather gloves (good M&S ones) so decided that I'd just leave it...
HOWEVER! Saw in a magazine on Sunday these leopard print primark gloves in a magazine. Leather look with a wee bow at side for £8, so after returning boots nipped in to primark at lunch and there was only 4 pairs left! RESULT! I am happy and although not real leather I have plenty of real leather gloves I can wear!
Realistically there is a very good chance i'll lose one so the £8 purchase was a smart move! :rotfl:
Owe the OH £25 for dinner and a ticket for a gig that we ended up not going to so will need to also that that out of the £55, taking it down to £22. But still £22 bucks I never had 1 hour ago!
Still been taking lunches in and resisted the new American sweet shop walking back from primark!
It is not free money i had to chant to myself!!! It was money i originally spent!!!
Tonight OH and I having leftover cottage pie from other night! Had to use our food budget to buy £18 worth of lunch food this morning (bread/oj/pittas/Cans juice/sandwich fillings etc), but that should last us until Sunday! So thats £80 for the remainder of the month with ALOT of food currently in the freezer so i think we should manage - JUST. Although wanted to stock up on vino for over the festive period...mmmmm...
On that note happy with the fozen things but don't think i'll be freezing onions again - not too happy with them would rather just spend £1 and get them fresh! Live and learn.
Mmm what else....
My friend in work borrowed £2 off me and not gave me it back. Normally that would be fine but I've became tight/stingy. SO moral of the story next time if they ask if i have change the answer is NO... just need to make sure my pockets won't jingle... :rotfl: although stopped taking cash to work to avoid temptation so should be okay... :money:
Had to pay £1 for last day of month dress down day - but it's for charity so thats okay! :A
I've been thinking and i kind of want to pay off the family loan first...it's just been hanging around for so long its annoying me. Smart thing is obviously to clear M&S first but it will also clear the dread of my mum/aunt asking to see how i'm getting on paying it back. It makes me feel sick. And whilst i have it i'm worried my mum will ask to see my credit card statement - a whole new can of worms... will reassess this in January.
The OH and I really want to move to a nice proper big house. I'd love to be debt free and saving for a deposit...places i'd never considered living before are being more and more appealing. Just a big house and space. Ahh the dream...
I personally think i'm doing alright so far (I'm aware its only been about a week!!!) I think everyone is in the same boat that there won't be much debt getting paid off in December! My goal is to try and not get into any more this month! Think if i keep obsessively posting here i will be okay
My excuse for annoying people!
Also posting every random thought i have has been helping...just so desperate to talk/read about people in a similar situation (everyone of my friends is pretty well off) it really helps just typing this out.0 -

Crisis - the Ted Baker link isn't working!

On the other hand, well done for getting the money back on the boots and generally being very MS. :money:Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book and avoid taking cash to work. I always want to go into Tesco because it's sitting there calling my name, but funnily when I haven't had money on me I have managed to get past without falling in.
I can't remember if I've already said (but it bears saying again), I prefer your way of dealing with clothes you've finished with even to Ebay.
