Sooooo long (as usual) check in as i've not been on in a while. Life has been getting in the way.
M&S Credit card now £2,300
Overdraft £700
Not paid anything further to loan. REALLY need to find out what is left to pay. I want that credit card cleared SOOO bad! :(Credit Card, Loan then Overdraft! I think sometimes i should increase my overdraft more to allow me more to pay to my credit card but then i think thats stupid.
Plan to keep paying around £700 each month to credit card. Should be cleared in 4 months. Seems SOOO far away
Need to save for holiday.
What I am certain of is, that once i've cleared this debt i'm SAVING. Ever found someones bank slip at a ATM and checked out the balance? I did today at lunch whilst lifting money....
A girl, looked same age as me. Dressed similar everything. Except her bank slip said she had £8,650 in her current account. I would like to think this is a one off or something but i think the reality is that she just had that much in her current account. She had that sensible organised look about her. Shes like a women i met once who said you should have 3 months wages in your current account incase something happens like your made redundant or a special bill comes up (is that not what credit cards are for
) also read Martin says you should have saved 6 months of wage at any one time!
Almost became envious of my uber stingy mate. I am at the stage (not 6 acceptance) but more of the thinking that if i was more like her i wouldn't have been up to my eyeballs in debt for the last 7 years! :money:
Stamps, everyone i know is talking about stamps recently. My mate bought 100 stamps for her wedding next year - smart thinking ahead. My other mate (the cheap one) also ripped off the 2nd class stamps she had put on 2 mates birthday cards as she was going to be seeing the people so decided not to post them. Can't decide if thats cheap or smart? Makes sense but when its ON the card...to rip it off? To re-use it surely she will need to glue it on next time? I think it's actually smart but because it's her doing it - i just automatically think - how cheap. Hmmmm.
Been spending too much money on lunch recently. It's just lazy that i haven't went to supermarket to stock up on supplies. Just got something on EVERY weekend with all hens and weddings and stuff and during the week i literally just want to go home. I could do online orders but they always give you rubbish and bashed fruit and veg! Even my meats etc i like to pick my own!! Anyway there are people who still live at home who bring in their own lunches so i need to get back on track as i have noooo money! And that to me is a waste. £5.70 I was on lunch today!
Much like my makeup i became a clothes snobb. And whilst i'm not fully giving up my french connection dresses. I've recently appreciated how good Primark and H&M can be! Saw some seriously lovely stuff, some which can be identical to that in the other shops! Got 2 wee gorgeous dresses last night that were...£5 each!!! for my holidays! Also looking at a pair of £10 evans wedges!
Going back to my makeup i don't think i'll be the same again! I don't think i'll buy my chanel nail varnishes or ysl mascara or mac blushes every again knowing i could get a wee rimmel or maybeline one for cheap. I think i'll stick to my expensive foundation, powder and mascara and everything else is cheaps from now on! WELL maybe the odd mac eyeshadow - its only £8.
Think i've defo curbed my spending the last few months but re the lunches and coffees im still thritering SO got notepad that im going to carry around with me to note down any spends!
Cannot thing of any more rambles? :rotfl:x0 -
So my overdraft is now up at £1,500.
However my credit card is down to £1,400.
Now this may sound like I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul. However I figure that whilst I have my overdraft I need to pay £1 a day anyway so the more I go into it doesn't change what I pay, HOWEVER it will make a difference on the interest on my credit card - you following.
So it's taken a nice little chunk off it. Also paid £150 towards the family loan. I know I said I was leaving that for a while but decided to pay something towards it. Delighted to see a cheeky wee £100 interest has went on to it - do you think my mum/aunty will not include that as part of the pay back? Maybe... I mean it's their money so therefore their interest.
I almost can't believe that's what it's down to. I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever get myself into this situation again. Even if I get married, nothing will be getting paid for with a credit card, it will be saved for and if I can't afford to do it I won't be doing it. Not even engaged and already designing my centerpieces from tin cans and paper and paint! Saw homemade table settings etc at a wedding recently and realised how lovely it can be.
I've down graded my clothes and makeup. AND found out that the Tesco and Asda own brand toiletries and makeup are cruelty free - HOW GOOD IS THAT. Think I'll stick with some of my Mac products (also free from animal testing). But the rest will be cheapies (cruelty free only brands). I just love Tesco and Asda for that. I also read about Morrison meats (not sure about toiletries) but they are looking our for better welfare for the animals aswell. Not just for the customers but for the animals aswell. I love Morrison's for that. I love how the large supermarkets are realising they can make a difference especially on things that are vanity related - that disgusts me. Poor animals being tested so someone can have shiny hair or a new eye shadow. DISGUSTING.
New things on my hit last are to tackle the OH and I's shopping bill. We have £400 in a joint account each month to pay petrol and food. The petrol is only ever maximum £100 so we spend £300 a month on food between us. Sometimes more as we run out and have to add more in. I then go on the old style board and see people feeding families of 4 for £30 a week so have realised we are going drastically wrong somewhere.
Also gutting the flat at minute. Despite hardly buying any toiletries for months I still have SOOO much toiletries and makeup! Gathering them all together with the plan to work my way through all the ones with quarters and half's left so I can get rid of the amount of bottles quicker. This alone should make my flat a good but tidier.
This also helps me realise all the good and nice stuff I have and that I have no need for anything else!
Finally I NEED to stop taking money into work. I NEED TO. I just spend it if I have it. x0
