dlb wrote:Right friends, need advice, dh just phoned again and someone at work has given their turkey to him aswell.
So do i cook one tonight and make other things out of it, eg curries, sandwich fillers, or do i freeze it for new year.
I havent got many turkey recipes so not sure if it would be a waste to cook it today?
You could do either, cook or freeze. However, you will be cooking a turkey on Monday, so you will prob have loads of leftovers next week to use in curries, sandwiches etc, so you might not want that this week too!!!!
I would freeze it for the new year myself.0 -
Thanks catowen, i will do that, so thats new years day dinner sorted now!!
Oh im really enjoying today, kids doing various different things one drawing, one watching a bond film, the others on the ps2, so i am having a really good browse of the boards.

Hello everyone,
Not been on here for ages...
I have Christmas pretty much sorted now - all my food shopping is done and all I need to do now is wrap the last few presents, OH and I are having Xmas just the two of us, then to his parents on Boxing day and mine on 27th... Needed to get Xmas sorted early this year as today is my only day off both uni and work before 25th December  It's showing though as I'm now coming down with some flu-type bug  I always get poorly at Xmas
Anyway, need to go swish round the house before OH gets back from work, and probably won't get on again until after Xmas, if not the new year, so
Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2007 to all
Have a good 'un - and try to behave!!!!!

Hiya :santa2:
Well, school's finished, boys are jumping (so have been dispatched to their friends houses) and I have finished my shopping. Went to the market straight after school run this morning and have bought fresh meat, fruit/veg and cream. Will pop into Tesco on xmas eve, only cos I'll be coming back from mum's and I want to bag a 1/2 price turkey
Have finally bought everyone's xmas pressies and wrapped them too :j
Bit of a problem though, have lost one of my mum's pressies, and it wasn't a cheap one either!! According to my list, it's been wrapped but I have hunted high and low for it and checked all my little hiding placesIt will either surface or it won't so I'll tell her she has something else coming :rotfl: Another problem - well, more like Mr TM has found out what his main pressie is. I was on the phone, in the study, giving the network provider the Pac code for the new mobile when he walked in. I hurridly hid the paperwork and he went out - after looking at the PC screen. When I finished my call ... I looked at the screen and I'd only brought up the phone details and left them up, so he saw them  Ah well, he has some surprises anyway
Right, think I'll get into the xmas spirit .... although may leave the actual spirits for later LOL (then again..... *hic*) Have opened the Celebrations and have devoured ALL the Liquorice Allsorts ... oopsWill go and make pastry for the "minty pies" as DS2 calls them cos Mr TM is out tonight. Will be having pizza for tea (much to the boys' delight)
So, I'm sure I'll be on here again before xmas, but :xmassign: to everyone, in case it's the last time you read for a while.

Afternoon everyone :hello:
Big hugs to grannybroon and her friend :grouphug:
:hello: to the new posters :hello:
I can't believe that it's nearly here! :xmassmile I've been quite a busy bee today... or it seems like it! We stayed over at friends last night, having supper and swapping presents. They have a 2.5yo little girl, so DH and I were busy trying to persuade her that Finding Nemo is our favourite film because our friends were getting rather fed up with Cinderella! It worked last night, but we'll see whether it lasts.....:p
This morning, after DH had gone to work (10 mins down the road and he works with one of the friends) I was in charge of coaxing "Doopy" into the washing machine. Doopy is the little girl's comforter/dog who was particularly stinky and needed a good wash. Having waved at Doopy in the WM, I was then encouraged to sing Christmas songs (with actions) whilst "mummy" went to have her shower. Thank goodness we don't have children because I'm exhausted!
After a long journey across the Foggy Fens, I decided (foolishly) to pop into town. It's not a very big town, but still it was packed. Luckily, I only needed a couple of things from the butchers, but when I got back to my car the whole of said town was trying to park. Two cars fought over my space - once they realised that they were blocking me from getting out and thus freeing up a space.
Tonight we're going to see my "boys"playing. They've got a 7.45pm kick off, so hopefully all the Christmas traffic in Leicester will have disappeared when we get there. I'm making sandwiches to take with us, but because it's Christmas I've got some smoked salmon to put in them. A little extravagant, but well worth it if my boys get a win. If they don't win, then I'll be claiming expenses from the club.:p
I'd better go and make my sandwiches! DH will be on his way home soon.
Have a good evening.

Good afternoon everyone :santa2: I'm a little late posting today. Finished work earlier and OH and I popped into the supermarket for eggs, fruit and veg. It was manic ... my goodness the shelves had been stripped. People were filling shopping trolleys to the brim ...
We had our Christmas earlier this week when the two DD's came home. We had a lovely time and did all the opening of presents in turn whilst we drank Bucks Fizz.
OH and I are now going to have a lovely peaceful 4 days - watching TV, going for walks and meandering around the InternetI'm not back at work for 2 whole weeks :T
Have a lovely OS day everyone and try not to get too stressed :santa2:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Christmas Hugs to all Os'rs:kisses3: I'm on my (lost count) orange flavoured tia maria, can ya tell? LOL! Well I thought I had better use up last years unwanted Christmas pressies before we receive another batch! I'm so tiddled I can hardly type and I've got veggie sweet 'n' sour to rustle up yet.
I was feeling rather smug today, safe in the knowledge that all the pressies are wrapped and all the food gathered in, so instead of battling the shops like lesser mortals I took the MATHLETTS off to the local country park, oggling deer and foraging around the ruins of a Tudor mansion in the fog. When I got home I realised I had foegotten onions and sweet peppers so off to the co-op tomorrow just like the lesser mortals:rotfl:
Tomorrow afternoon we are going to see Starlight Express which is a Chrimbo treat from MIL - we're all looking forward to it. Christmas eve we are at Church in the mornig and MIL's in the afternoon/evening, I haven't penciled in a sprout slashing session in yet
Mrs MATH broke up an hour ago so Christmas can truely start now ie, I can't get toooo sozzled until there is another responsible adult on the premises LOL
Best Wishes
