  • OMG - I went to turn my futon today and it just has to go, it is disgusting! And not even comfortable any more.
It is on an Ikea bed which is a funny size.
Do I a) buy a new futon that does not fit (it will be 5 inches short and one inch narrow) for £90 from ebay (that looks ok but you never know with ebay, it is layers of wool, cotton and poly cotton so there is not that much that can go wrong though) or spend £150 on a better looking one that is the same size or pay more money and get one made to fit the bed? I don't know how much more it would be yet, I've emailed them.

tumpty - I think I'd want to get one that fitted, but that's just me :)

I'll wait and see what the price is like. A mattress is quite an important thing so it is worth spending a bit more on but I can just see the price going up and up and up....

  • Made some chutney with the crab apples its nice!.(was shocked it was so nice!!) Wonder if anyone else knows of any other crab apple recipies before they disappear altogether?
I made apple jelly - you chop the apples up (skin, core and all) and bung it in a large saucepan with water to cover plus an inch or so, simmer until it is really soft and squishy. Then you need to filter it - I turn a chair upside down on the table and tie a muslin square to each leg - a large bowl goes underneath all that and the apple mush in the hammock of muslin you make. Let it drain through slowly, if you squish it through it will go cloudy. The next day measure the liquid you have got and boil it up with half as much sugar. I put some mixed spice in mine too. It will start to thicken just like jam at which point you put it in warm sterilised jars. It came out clear with little flecks of spice in and it is amazing with cheese!

And I forgot to say that last year I included a little chili and it was the best ever. :)

Hi everyone, I've been reading through the forum and I saw a book called Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy suggested. I can't remember which thread it was in but I thought it might help if everyone knew that you can download it free. I looked for it on Google and there's a free downloadable PDF file. Hope this helps.

Lola, I hope your cat is okay.

    .

Curses, I bought it! It's a very good book though, a keeper! I'm really getting a lot out of Hamlets Blackberry which is about how to live in the 21st century without getting overwhelmed with being connected to thousands of people at all times but the most useful book I have read this year has got to be The Power of Less.

Thanks for that ModestyB - that looks really good.

Will have a proper read tomorrow when I'm not tired and grumpy.

    An NSD for me today.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
