Hi, i hope we've all had pleasant evenings?
Mine was my first bath since moving, radox bubbles, and a glass of red prosecco (cheap but fun), and a Nigel slater book:)
...which inspired me to cook, so we Didn't have the planned fish and chips, instead I baked garlic marinated chicken and made a simple recipie of tomatoes with green lentils from the Nigel book. Healthy and tasty. And totally excuses me splashing out on 3 cook books at the works today! Cuban, nice pics, 1poy by that 'fat lady' chef, and Nigel slaters 1st called fast food. The nice man said there were some offers on so I got 2 paper packs for the price of one, and I realized after he didn't charge me for the 3rd cook book (Cuban, nice pics)...maybe there was an odd BOGOF I didn't know about?Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Can recommend the book Eat that Frog as it's one I've just read. Wish I'd known about the free download...nevermind. Good to know for any future reading. Will have a look at The Power of Less. Thanks.
paidinchix the remoska has me intrigued. You can cook and bake in it can't you? I don't know anyone that has one but from what I've read it's supposed to be brilliant.

Afternoon everyone
Having a lazy day today; I've got a really sore throat and cough so don't really want to go far. I need to take the dog for a walk, so will venture out in a bit, but apart from that, I have nothing planned.

Thanks so much for the links to the power of less and Wisebread.
Really enjoyed them.
NSD for me yesterday and spent my pocket money on a couple of cardies from the charity shop today as the market wasn't on - I was hoping I might be able to track down the missing nutcracker I bought from there last week.
I've also got the meal deal from M and S for tomorrow managed to get a huge chicken. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

I had the shock of my life today. Some evil scamming theif has decided that they will help themselves to the contents of my bank account. They were really thoughtful and kind though and left me with £3.23. I was only last night admiring my bank account (I'm not rich but it was nice to have some cash in there the week before payday!) Grrrrrrr, They've scuppered my BH plans now too. I was going to drive down to London for carnival. Gutted!
What a nightmare for you, Chika, :grouphug:but try to stay calm as the bank is unlikely to penalise you for it. It happens very frequently - somebody in America did this with my credit card this year and I think it might have been because some sites I use were hacked into. The bank has reimbursed me for what was lost. What I don't understand is that the thieves took out some weird little sums that hardly seemed worth the trouble (and might have alerted me) before going for the big one. I've also had two very authentic-looking phishing emails this last week, asking me to re-enter security details and if I hadn't known that banks NEVER ask for this kind of info in emails, I might have done it. Usually you get grammar errors in these things that give the game away, but this last lot were very, very professional.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Hi,I know it's very late in the year but can I delurk and join in here in preparation for next years challenge please?
We have recently done some renovations to our house and now need to save like billy-o to finish them. We have to adopt a really frugal lifestyle to acheive this but I'm afraid to say that I just don't really know very well how to go about it. I've been reading this thread a while now and a couple of other old style threads and getting a lot of hints and tips, so gradually getting the spends down.
I don't have a target for this next quarter yet, perhaps I should look again at our budget and set some goals for autumn into winter.
Hope it's OK to leap in so late.Trying to keep in budget.
