I've been foraging and came back with 3 different kinds of apples and some blackberries. Plus there's another apple tree and some sloes. All growing on public space. :j:j:j I don't understand why nobody else bothers - they just leave the fruit to me and the wasps. Is it that people would be ashamed to be seen? Hi everyone, I'm still around - have been reading but not posting as I've not been very frugal for the past couple of weeks:(.
I've now got most of my winter stores in (enough to last for 1 month of total "stuckness"...) of pet food/litter, toiletries, kitchen & bathroom supplies, emergency car kit, clothes & boots and food for me as well as quite a stock for post-op recovery.
Although I've spent a fortune this month, it should be recouped over the next few weeks/months and I'm feeling a lot better that I am now prepared.:o
Dreading not being able to get out & about / drive - saw my consultant last Tues and need 2 procedures and the recovery time is 3/4 months:eek:. Still, it has to be done and, after that, things should be a lot better.
Been to DM & DF's today and the wind was horrendous - checked the weather when I got back and gusts up to 50mph. My wee car was blowing around all over the place and came across several big branches on the road - not good on your side of the road on blind corners:eek:.
Came home on the main road (about 10 miles further) as a lot safer - also nabbed a bag of sand from DF which I stuck in the boot and seemed to keep the car on the road a bit better.
Glad to be home - off for a soak in the bath and then hunkering down with my fleecy blanket on the sofa ..... can't quite believe it's still only August, it's more like late Sept/early Oct out there!:(
I caught up on all the pages and had too many things on multi-quote so here's a couple I remember and apologies to anything major missed off....
Lola - keeping my fingers crossed kitty's home soon
Chika - hope they catch the wee b******s
Spiral - glad you enjoyed your break with all those kids - I'd be needing a week off to recover!
Hugs to anyone who needs one and hope those who are under the weather are feeling better.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Hi all, hope you're all enjoying your weekend. DH and I went to see Blake tonight (sort of an English Il Divo, with very close harmony). I had to laugh, there was a very old lady sitting next to me, with an even older hubby, poor soul was badly disabled, with spine trouble, which caused him to bend right over.
During the interval, I asked the lady if she was enjoying the show. "Oh yes" she said enthusiastically. "They sing so well, and they're all dishy, aren't they". I agreed that they were very handsome and very talented, and she leaned towards my ear, and whispered "My ol' man's got Parkinsons, and he can't do anything, so I don't get it anymore!":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Once I stopped laughing, I said that the mind was free to wander, and she could imagine them serenading her at bedtime, to which she replied "sod that, I want 'em all naked and in my bed!!!" :T :T
Don't you just love her! Well, I've decided to do an extra special Frugal Challenge for the remainder of the year, it's my Four Month Frugal Fight.I've not-so-much slipped off the straight and narrow, as fallen with a bump, so I'm putting all the naughty spends behind me, and trying really hard to improve on the last 4 months. Anyone want to join me?
Thursday is the 1st September, and I shall try to be super frugal for the rest of the year, like I was at the beginning.

That has cheered me up!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
We're off to visit our friends who spend spend spend as a hobby who are in debt debt debt............I may have to come on here and have a good moan later as I have promised myself I am NOT going to comment at all on their spending or debts......even if they ask for my opinion. I may have to bite my tongue rather a lot :rotfl: Last time we visited they had spent £600 on a desk and one of those Dyson fans  but their kids are sharing a bedroom as they have not decorated the bedroom for four years  they took the upstairs bathroom out so the boy and girl could have separate rooms and have done nothing further in all that time. Must bit tongue ...... must bit tongue lol.
Does anyone else have friends that frustrate them when it comes to money or is it just me???
Luv to all

Still coughing and sneezing so me and OH aren't doing much today. I do need to do some shredding at some point and possibly hoover the downstairs, but that's about it. It's also gloomy outside
and a bit chilly too, I can't believe the weather is like this in August! It definitely feels as if summer is well and truly over.
Sandra - that's a brilliant story :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'll join you on the extra frugal last four months - August has been a very spendy month for no reason at all! Need to get back on the wagon and aim for more NSDs.
paid - good luck at your friend's house! I'd find that hard going. I have a friend who constantly complains about having no money, but doesn't work, and whenever we go out, buys DVDs/clothes/CDs etc., without a second though! I have to just bite my tongue too and let her get on with it.
seriouslyfrugal - is that all til xmas?! I really need to start thinking about presents...
ashes - gosh, that wind was strong! glad you got home safely. I agree about the weather, it's really depressingdo you know when you're getting your procedure done?
redglass - mmm you've made me want apple and blackberry crumble! I was walking yesterday and came across some people picking blackberries. There are some near us but they're not quite ready for picking - I'm keeping my eye on them though! :rotfl:
Lola - any news?Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
