Thank you Dizzy, here it is but it's really big!!!

    003-1.jpg

    Sorry everyone!!!

Been to my regular book swap group today, got a new bag full to read :D

Put my first lot of ingredients into the bread maker I got for £5 and about half an hour later all the electrics tripped!!! Hubbie not amused, we have set it going again and we'll see what happens.....

Well done on your Aldi shopping FF, we don't have one near, but do have Lidls. I still haven't been to tescos, wonder if they're missing me!!

  • I'm trying to decide whether to bother with posting clothes on eBay or to just take them to the charity shop.

It all seems such a hassle.

I've sold Furniture and electricals before but not sure I can cope with faffing around posting and making sure there are no cats hairs on anything!

I have sold loads on feebay on several different accounts. I have found people are REALLY bad at the moment. If you say a slight pull but perfectly wearable they bid, get and then moan it has a slight pull  I always list faults worse than what they are and take pics even if it is too small to show up on the camera. A lot of people are saying things never arrive at the moment, it is a get what you can for nothing game at the moment. Ebay always stand by the buyer. I would save your account for things that are worth a few bob ;)

Thanks ruby. It definitely needs a new boiler :(. Parts and labour would nealy be the cost of a new one with a 5 yr guarantee. Meh.
Feel bad for our tenant. But it's not something u can plan for anymorenthan we did. Phoned and checked they do have an electric bar heater. We decided to be friendly and took round a bucket of coal for the open fire. I hope that makes us 'good landlords'?

So trying not to spend today went out of the window as what's 30quid on bargain craft supplies, xmas and bday prezzies when I'm looking at a £1400-£1600 bill? :(

Thanks for the heads up on Leaks. I love them with cheese sauce.

Tink im getting relative strain from peeling apples... Woke 6 times last night with pins and needles in my hands. Thanks whatnot I changed to to flannel sheets so we were nice and warm, else I know I wouldn't have got back to sleep.

NATNAT that bunting is FAB I love your use of buttons too!

Thank you Spiral, I was really pleased with it as a first attempt, the children now want some for thier bedrooms!

Well, bread progress, it hasn't tripped again yet but doesn't feel very warm so whether it blew something I'm not sure. Is still counting down so will have to see later.

Just seen an advert for a frugal living programme, this Thursday channel 4, 8pm, called Ultimate Penny Pinching or something along those lines!!

  • I may have been dreaming but I thought I saw trailers for two programmes of interest next week. One is called Money something or other and the other Penny Pinching-ish. I will be watching avidly, but OH thinks I have written them!

  • room for a newbie ?

i have just posted to join up on the 2012 thread on the DFW board but didnt want to be too previous posting on there in 2011 :)

stumbled across this thread and it looks right up my street thought i say a bit about me

I seperated from my OH last Oct after 20 years ..remortgaged the house and am lucky i can just about support myself and keep the house , i live with my DS ( still at schoool ) dog and cat and have DD at university

i grow veg and used to have chickens till mr fox took them  am hoping to have hens in the spring if i can secure housing and run for them ( miss my eggies )

managng a sole income after a joint one and taking on a mortgage again means my belt has to be tightened

but its all doable and i am looking forward to seeing how little i can actually get away with spending ..

ive spent 2011 doing essential but costly repairs to the house , needed re roofing and insulation to name but a few , but all this i hope will save on fuel and bills in the future

i need to start spending less and saving my hard earned pennies , have a small cc bill to clear too ( had to just replace my car ..talk about when it rains ..it pours ...)

i do menu plan and try and shop accordingly but have found my trolley expanding of late with alleged offers and i need to reduce my spending so hopefully reading your posts and ideas will help keep me on track

thanks for the inspiration reading past posts

    Beautiful bunting Natnat.

For photos I use tiny pics and just paste the img directly unto the page.

Welcome Jammy dodger sounds like you are on the right track already.

Sorry to here about your chickens!

  • Welcome jammy, there used to be insulation grants for people on low incomes if its not too late, its how I got my new boiler:) I also used to keep chickens but I need a bigger garden than the 30ft I have. They turned it all to dust
