  • Welcome Nanny :j

Nat that sounds a fab reason for spending money!!!

Aril Happy birthday (sorry I was late)

Rising I don't envy you being stuck in the house I would have had cabin fever by now and think you are doing really well

    Sandra Your just fab x

Sorry if there is anyone I have missed

I also agree that you get more support on here than with your "real world" friends. I spent most of this week avoiding "real" people but still popped on here ;)

I went to a BBQ at a friends last night which I did not want to go to but after pre warning everyone not to talk about cats we had a good night so I am glad I got out of the house. I did not drink as I was driving but still did not get in til 2am  Free food and drink :D

The couple who's house we went to have just spent £27 000 in less than six months . He had £30 000 pay out when he lost his job and my mouth must have hit the floor when his wife said they had nearly spent it all. They have not paid any debts and just bought gadgets and furniture :eek::eek::eek:

I have done two hours of ironing and peeled a sack of apples ready for freezing, washed the front room window inside and out and scrubbed the front door so all in all I have done more today than I have done all week. :T

    PIC x

Morning, still sunny here, last day though I believe :(

The charity event I went to on Sat raised over £6000! Amazing!

Good news on job front, school have just phoned me and asked if I would like to be a "bank" TA so I cover when others are on courses etc, they will have to offer it to other parent helpers and i will ahve to have a short interview but fingers crossed, I'm very happy :j

I'm off to a book swap in a bit when I've hung out the washing, see if I can get some new reads and raise some money for another friend's daughters charity, she had liver cancer a few years ago, all good now though.
Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.
Keen to live a healthly lifestyle and save money

Excellent news about your charity event, and also about the job. :T Here's hoping that you get a positive outcome. We have another beautiful day here in Essex, and although the temperature has been in the high 70s, low 80s for a week now, the grass is still soaking. :( I think it's something to do with the ground temperature and clay soil and the dew, but not sure what!

Some of my roses are giving us their fourth display of the year, and although Mr Titchmarsh says we should now empty our pots and baskets, I'm reluctant to do so, as I still have wonderful shows of begonias and fucshias in most of the 47!

Just caught up with the thread - hugs to all of you who need them, sounds like a few of us are having a rough time at the moment - let's hope that things start getting a bit better.

I try really hard not to get sucked into comparing our income and 'stuff' with others - commared with many we a really well off but there are also a load of folk I know who have loads more money and have a much 'flasher' lifestyle than we do. I like our low impact, careful approach to spending and consuming although I know it's not always just to save money that I make certain choices.

PIC, sometimes I also spend time avoiding people - I just find it exhausting at times being with people too much and I need to have some peace and quiet at home.

We're going to have to keep a close eye on the pennies here until Xmas here - I am just about to do the spreadsheet which will tell us how much we can spend but I think it's going to be a very very tight month this month, a little bit free in november and then December is expensive again.
    Trying to keep in budget.

I know that compared to many people on this thread I'm doing well - my income isn't bad (although it would be better if we were both working, not just me!) and I'm careful enough with my spending to keep me in budget for the most part. If I do treat myself I make sure I can afford it.

I do work with people who have money though and make sure we know about it. One woman is buying a house for £250,000 if not more which has five bedrooms and five bathrooms - for her, her husband and their child. Madness in my eyes to spend that amount of money on a new house, but if they can afford it then fair play to them. I just don't understand the need to tell me about every new bit of furniture they're buying or all the designer gear her daughter is getting for Christmas - she must have spent over £800 last year for presents which is probably three times what I spent for all my family and friends

I spend on things I enjoy (crafts mainly which is my main hobby and a source of occasional income for me) but don't splash the cash as I know I can't afford it and wouldn't want to put myself in debt to keep up with other people. We bought a car this year, which has put me back in debt, but it makes more sense to have done this than to keep paying out on our old banger. Certainly not a frugal purchase but one which makes long term sense.

Life is for living and I think we're all just trying to do it in as thrifty way as we can :)

  • Well not such good news on the fuel pump hunt. No ebay, no local breakers yards. I have resorted to trawling the online vw breakers to find one. I can almost there the gasp of how old . You are joking.:(

Going to send dh to have a chat with a local diesel pump fixer to find out exactly how much the bad news could be, before we decide what to do.

Still studying, just having a lunch break, marmalade on toast not hm, but Mr S budget one, but it is ok.

:(to people who have to tell you exactly everything they bought, how wonderful bigger better than everyone elses blah d blah d blah. Don't get me wrong if someone has the money to do this and that and it is what they want. I have no problem with it, but those who continuously drone on, sorry but:o

I think we could start an "avoiding people" club. I do it all the time, but I do recognise my avoidation tactics could turn me into a recluse _pale_

Well off to make a lidl shopping list before I start my work again, should only be a small one as we did our Mr T shop last week.

Sorry for my grumpy little post:D
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
