Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with being frugal, but I've been watching the Michael Jackson trial, and apart from a short morning break, and longer lunch break, the bodyguard/Head of Security was in the witness box for over 6 hours!!!!!
He acquitted himself with such respect and dignity, and only gave a few elongated sighs - I'm sure I would have been a sweaty heap! What dreadful news from Kensington - 3 teenage girls shot, and Kensington is an upmarket area.
Trimmed 4 huge shrubs this afternoon, each about 8 feet high. The step ladder sunk into the lawn, and I was a wee bit anxious, trying to hook bits of foliage with a long pole, and then pull and cut.
In fact, at one point I gave DH the pole, and was hooking each bit and calling out "pull!" - and my neighbour said she thought we were clay pigeon shooting!
Hope everyone has a great weekend - October on Saturday.

hi everyone, thanks for your nice comments on my jam / jelly. Sandra - i've got my fingers crossed i bottled it right and doesnt go mouldy!
dinner was frugal last night. just love Jambalia, and how it can absorb all the different random leftovers easily into something that feels like a propper meal! 1/2 a red onion, a scant amount of leftover sausage meat, 2 very ripe tomatoes, a funny coloured red/green pepper, 3 slices of woopsied frozen choritzo, a spring onion... garlic, oregano, paprika, water + rice. simmer for 25 mins till water absorbed. job done

i dont expect today to be frugal... but hey, that's one reason for being frugal on other days, right? its MacMillian Coffee Morning Day. I'm off with a friend to a local one held at a sewing class place, there'll be cake, coffee, and sewing/fabric supplies avalible to buy. and a quilt show for inspiration. lovely!

That Grand Ol' Man of feline land
For one last time has licked your hand
For all his life, you've done your best
But now, at last, it's time for rest
Your heart is heavy, filled with sorrow
To know he won't be here tomorrow
But though today seems dark and grim
Think of the life you made for him!
Those kitten days when he was small
And huddled in a tiny ball
He grew and grew and fancy that
At last he was a proper cat!
At night he had his games and fun
And talk about the things he'd done!
He lived a life of joy and glee
Oh yes! A proper cat was he
At times you'll sob, I'd even bet
Some "friends" might say - he's just a pet
But true friends know that he was more
The loving fella you'd adore
So look at photos of your man
Think of good times, as best you can
For though you're feeling such despair
Unselfish love, like yours, is rare
It's sad that you have had to part
And sadder still, your breaking heart
Remember - through your grief and strife
You gave your cat a "purr-fect" life
xx
This is the nicest, heartfelt thing anyone has ever written to me. I sat and sobbed while reading followed by DS sitting, sobbing and reading. The key board has finally dried out I think.
I would just like to thank everyone for their well wishes and you really are a caring bunch. Funny to think of how much support you get from people you have never met.
Lola I have spent three days hardly coming out of my bedroom.I have only been out for a ciggie because I'm a dirty tabber!! and do not smoke in the house. I put bleach round the bath a few days ago and the shower broke so I could not rinse it off. I now have thick black and white stripes around the bath because I can not be bothered to tackle it. I have piles of dirt round the house which looks like Arizona tumble weed. I can not be bothered to talk to anyone as I can't concentrate on what they are saying. My white dressing gown is coffee stained and could probably walk to the washing machine itself if I ever take it off.
Hopefully my "mojo" and yours are sunning themselves up on a tropical beach having a hoot of a time and will be back soon rested and raring to go. Don't give yourself a hard time as plenty of people will do that for you xxxx

Lovely to "see" you PIC, and glad you liked my poem, even though I'm sorry it made you cry. But my dear ol' Mum and Aunt always used to say "God makes tears to wash away sorrow".
Just give yourself as much time as it takes, and hopefully the sun will shine again for you soon.

Very sad but that was a truly remarkable poem Sandra! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

I can't believe it's October tomorrow either! I thought I must get serious about christmas buying so I am trying to buy my 2 boys DS lites for xmas, 2nd hand, saw a bargain one today BIN on ebay then DS2 had mega tantrum and by the time I had sorted him it has sold! So I told him that father christmas won't be bringing presents if he carries on like that! Which is true if I can't have time to buy them!!!
Re the job, I got into conversation with the Head and she suggested I do some voluntary work and in end result was a start next Wed morning in Reception, obviously no money involved but it will hopefully give me the insight and experience I need. Going to look into courses too.
PIN and Lola, I hope this sunny weather has brighten you up a bit x xMum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.
Keen to live a healthly lifestyle and save money0 -

Nice frugal NSD - not that I've left the house!
Set the timer for thirty minutes to tidy the kitchen - then had to do another thirty after a little rest.
It's spotless now!
Slept from five until seven - just finished a baked potato. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.
